Ours just follows you in, jumps onto the counter and waits for you to turn on the water because the water bowl isn't good enough.

Kind of kicking myself in the butt. Almost wish I went with the red lights instead of the white for the dome lights from diode Dynamics . Or maybe I'll look into switching the map lights out .

Maybe I'll even run a red Map light on my side and a white map light on her side if I were to be practical. Who cares how it looks if it's got purpose

I've never looked into the reasoning behind it, but what's the advantage of the red lights?

Less intense so you're eyes can adjust to night light easier, better for map / doc reading

Everyone thinks they preserve night vision. We used white lights on dimmers in the aircraft. In my NVG course they talked about how that is better than the red lights. I have done zero research into it. I just thought they looked cool.

They serve about as much function as my multicam black seat covers. Makes me smile when I get into the truck.

I guess I should rephrase that. In day light you have a more balanced reaction to intensity with the rods and cones in your eyes. That same bright white light at nite creates an unbalance. But as Kevin said, you can use other lights. Better filtered / balanced white lights can balance, and now there's a shift to blue and blue/green. Red was just the og and cheap way of doing it

(I was probably typing my post as you were typing yours. Mine was not a retort to what you said. Not trying to say "nuh uhh you're wrong!" Text does not convey tone. etc etc.)

Haha no worries. It's not like I'm an expert in it. Ive only dealt with it from doing underwater construction and obviously welding.

Basically to some it up, I believe it's the rod that is more sensitive to ambient light but can be over powered by the cone if activated. So the red and blue/green and filter whites at the right lux / lumen (forget which one) can be enough to activate the rods and let you see field vision where as the wide spectrum white light activates the cones and you have more spot vision .

Does it make vision better, no. Haha it's still dark . But it let's you pick up critical things like motion and silhouettes better.

I use them because when I weld all night my eyes are incredibly sensitive to light for the next day. Makes it look like everyone is high beaming me. It's bad enough that a head lamp will shine small leaf plants at me. Red light doesn't have that effect for me

Don't get me going. Purple light may be the new tactical and I'm 100% in.
