Thank you for donating. I’ve never heard about the CMV thing. I know I get a lot of call because my type is so common. My friend went with me and found out she was O negative. She had to ask them to stop calling her because it was constant.

It kinda freaked me out. Sitting there getting the donation card filled out and notice the nurse puts this odd yellow sticker on my card. I thought I had tested bad for something and they were marking my blood for disposal. I noticed no one else had one of these stickers and I ask what it was for.

I was told that 6% of the population is A-. I was told a large portion of the population has exposure to the CM virus and it never leaves your system entirely for your whole life. I guess that make the blood even more rare. I dunno.

If a person that is CMV positive blood is given to an infant, I can kill that child.

So now, when I give blood, I try to sneak a peek to see if anyone else donating has one of those stickers. I don't see them too often, but I do see them.

I can't even pronounce what this is, I have to copy and paste. Cytomegalovirus.

 

Yeah I was just reading about it. Pretty interesting.

How was the trip?

 

Great! Much warmer than here but the wind was kicking. Caught fish, had marshmallows and found out I need a new mattress in the camper. I think a brick may have been softer.

Bought little man some new stuff to redo his room tonight for Christmas. Going to see how I like the memory foam mattress I got him and may order another one for the camper.
