I have about 8 bottles of whiskey in the alcohol cabinet. I think I'm good!

Apparently I baught a gas fireplace today. I'm told its just what I want...

The salesman told us that it will run during a power outage. I'm told this was a deciding factor.

Note: we have a whole house standby generator...

We have never had a power outage in 9 years...

LeSigh.

The HAM hardware I could have bought..

 

Would the gas still run even without power? I'm not familiar at all with that stuff.

 

I have my wife consult me on things like that lol She won't do anything that she doesn't know 100% without asking me first.

 

That was one of my stipulations.

I required a standing pilot gas train.

Many of the newer units are using circuit boards and hot surface igniter technology.

I wanted old school. A gas valve, a pilot light and a thermocouple. All things that are cheap and easy to source.

Yep.

The flame will work just fine. If no electricity, the fan won't work, but the flame will work just fine.

 

Never dealt with gas, and have no clue how it works.

 

It's nice and toasty. Warms really well and fast. Not as common over here that I've seen.

 

My grandmother had it up at her place, but never asked questions about it.
