    I get 120ish. I don't take it often enough to miss 4 hours, I don't think...

Would be better if I was back at my old station in the center of the county. I've ran more calls in 3 shifts here than I did in a month up there.

It would be to me too. That would be 4 hours of overtime. Our short week is 96 hours and our long weeks are 120 hours. Our salary depends on the overtime. So you basically screw yourself when you take vacation here. I get 215 hours a year now but pull it away in 24 hour intervals. They will let us carry over as much as we earn so if I didn't take off for a year I'd have 430 hours and be able to take 2 months off almost. Damn that sounds nice.

Same, if they had run me up as 4 hours of vacation this week there'd be no point in me being here for 4 extra hours tonight since it would all be straight time.

Yeah, I'm about 40 minutes from the house here. 55 at my last station. I don't really care though cause I liked the longer drive. Plus people actually come by and visit you at the old station. Nobody's driving all the way over here. lol This station is huge with 2 offices, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, training room, laundry room, kitchen, day room and 2 bays. There's 2 of us here. Haha

He filled in missing hours with vacation. I was supposed to have 10 hours of vacation in last week and he made it 14 and put 8 hours instead of 12 for the day I forgot to save. Which would make sense if I didn't work a 12 every friday.

Hours are the same every week unless I pull overtime. Just look at any other time card you've approved, dude.

Kicker with us is we don't make overtime till we hit 86 hours. We're on a 43 hour work week because of our shifts. So basically we get 10 hours ot on short and 36 hours ot on long.

They had talked way back there on a national level of cutting all overtime out for fire/EMS. Idk how many I talked to were against it. I was like dude, you're going to make the same amount per year they will just pay you more per hour. Also when you take vacation you won't lose money cause it's all straight time. They just couldn't comprehend it. I wish they would do that because it's dumb as shit to penalize me for taking vacation.

Jesus. I get 10% shift differential for working graveyard and anything after 40 is time and a half.

Well I get to sit around and watch tv or work on my own projects when were not running calls. Can also sleep at night so it's not too bad a deal. lol

That's rough, but if you get to kick it when not on call, I guess that's fair. Now if you were go go go non-stop then I'd be pissed as hell that I had to hit 86 hours.

I’m looking at jobs that dont have OT. Doesn’t matter the total hours in a week. Flat pay regardless. Granted you’ll have weeks with 2 shifts so you’ll only have 24 hours but it’s not fun knowing I can do 5 shifts in a week and not get OT.

Medicine. Most likely will start in emergency medicine and it’s not an uncommon deal in this area I guess. Medicine is just a weird field in general as far as shifts, hours, pay, etc all work out.
