So while i was in St thomas, all my packages started to arrive back home. And my soon to be Ex wife posted a snapchat when she got home. The bed frame and bed had arrived after she just got done with like a 13 hr shift as a RN. Took her a few trips to get everything inside. I just kind of laughed a little bit on the inside. slow and steady revenge. But by last count, everything should be there waiting for me when i get home now. So day 1 home, fix the brakes on her CRV, day 2 will be installing my D710G and prepping for the tacoma camp meet in GA. Day like 6, hopefully take my tech test!

ie: the bone rotted, and the pins broke and shattered my bone.

So i want to say its 32. unless your prior service, then add a year for every year you served. And ya, back then we were almost on a recruiting freeze. I joined back in 2007 right out of high school. I set it up in 06 and delayed for my diploma. When i went in they said it was a 2 year wait for white males. So the recruiter asked me if my family had any other heritages. i started naming them and said mom was 1/16th native, recruiter said good enough want to go to basic next week. haha.

SAR is a cool aspect of it but depends where you are. I have been on ships now for 6 years and only had like 4 SAR calls. Now our small boat stations (the units you see all over the coast) they do it alot, i just cant get stationed there due to my job. I sometimes wish i had gone BM (boat driver) so i could do that stuff.

 

Also, if i go somewhere else (with maintains or something other then Flat land florida) i want to get in with a local SAR team. I did some SAR training back when i was in sea cadets (insert joke). and i really enjoyed it. But i wouldnt mind getting in with a team somewhere and help out when able.

 

Well I'm in New England. So that's that. Haha. Back when I talked to them , they basically saidt here is no guarantee on what my job would be or where I would end up.

So I ended up doing commercial diving and when for my Dive medic technician license

 

That realization when my credit card and truck amounts owed are only $50 difference...
Buuuttt the CC has a higher interest rate so I should pay that instead of my truck

Ya they lied... You can choose what your job would be. Like Electronics tech, Boatsinmate, machinist mate, IT, and such. you just had to be willing to do the wait to go to the course for it. Some of them have long waits. esp back then. And im jealous, once i learned to dive to Kodiak AK, i looked into dive school. I was looking at DIT in seattle. my buddy did it but it was hard finding a job in the NW. He ended up moving out to HI and works for a fish farm out there working the sea pens and such. I also wanted to get my DMT cert. i just dont have the time to get my EMT. so thats on the back burner for awhile. If i end up going PADI pro ill get my stuff then. Hows the diving up there? one these days i want to make my way to the NE (never been) and try the diving. I like cold water diving more then warm (weird i know).

 

I have a dang HAM radio.
I just don't have my license. All the tests in Feb have been on days I work. There's one on Saturday but I'd have to haul it an hour south as soon as I get off work/leave work early to make it in time. (Which I'm probably going to do. I'll call the guy in the morning.)

I feel ya man. I told these guys i would get it in NOV. then the wife dropped the D bomb on me and that sent me into a downward spiral for the inport. Now im hoping to get it in Mar. just have to time it right since there is only a couple that month. Thats also why i bought the radio ahead of time. to MAKE me get the test so i can actaully use it and not just stare at it in the truck.

Yeah, I have the radio and the antenna sitting on the kitchen counter so I'll never forget. I think I'm going to go to the one on Saturday. I just have to brush up again, it's been a while. I'll see if I can get the guy relieving me Saturday to come in an hour early or something.

Toss a handful of mud in your bathtub with 10 gallons of ice and snorkel in it. You'll get the gist. Haha. 95% of my diving had zero viz. Pitch black. The diving school thing is kind of like a scam. They put way more people through them than there are jobs .

The DMT bit was fun. You're basically on laceration call. Ran a hyberbaric chamber a ton. Had my 8" thick navy manual for that.
