well it does help provide faster situational awareness at all times being able to have a rearveiw mirror. and i like the idea of the bluetooth for my music or calls. esp since i sometimes got crap for headphones under my helmet coming onto base.

 

Any calls for fireworks off shore?

 

people call the coast guard when they see flares. so that we can go help. but always on july 4th, people call in "flare" (fireworks) sightings over land to us. and we have to remind them what day it is and we dont do land rescue.

I'm not quite into the whole Bluetooth deal yet. When I use to ride, I just enjoyed not being bothered. Now granted Bluetooth wasn't as available back then. I never wore headphones either. I just enjoyed the sounds and "aloness"

I enjoy it for the music side. i like to listen to music most the time esp on the ride home when i wanted to relax to de-stress. Now the phone calls, idc. i also rarely talk on the phone to begin with. if anything i try to text.

... i thought about it. but that means i need a bed rack also. and i cant veiw kbvoodoo on the work computer. so i cant look at their mod rack that works with tonnuea covers. but something i might buy in the next year or two.

 

oh my.... thats purdy. just need to stay above the water with that i would think haha. last trip i did before deploying i was with a 2nd gen lifted and a jeep lifted. went thru a water hole and when my front dropped down i had water on the hood. that made me pucker up real fast thinking i just ruined my truck.

 

To all my HAM nerds, i know i saw someone post something bout tnc earlier (to lazy to look thru all the pages). I want to in the future run my D710 aprs and see if i can connect it to a tablet or something mounted in my truck. is this needed to do that?

The new TNC3 should be what you want for the tablet. The d710 gives a lot of info on the screen itself. Map wise you'll need the TNC or run MyAPRS separate. If you want the ability to send text from a keyboard on the tablet then yes a TNC will be needed. The D710 allows you to type using the keypad on the mic like in the old flip phone days.
