Well just getting home and enjoying a glass of our new wine Vinewoods Pinot Noir and a grilled pepper jack cheese with Cajun turkey breast sandwich. Also enjoying some rain finally here in Norcal , so hopefully it is going to help with all of the fires in the surrounding area's.

Combined the cameras for the trip last weekend (she takes way more pictures than I do).:D

Reposted from Advrider.com where I just posted it not too long ago.

It began late Friday when missb303 got off work:

Arriving and setting up camp late was freaking cold at 9,400', but nothing a few sleeping bags couldn't handle. Frost covered tents in the morning.

It warmed up though after the sun came out.

    View from the Campsite:

Saturday we decided to do Taylor Pass. I may™ have forgot to mention to missb303, that part of the road goes about 300 yards up a creek. Oops!

    Climbing out of the creek:

After a bit further down the rocky trail my front end washes out (wtf?) and after we get the bike upright and I catch my breath we discover a clicking noise. Apparently sprockets can bend!

After some prying we popped off the wheel and used a big-ass crescent wrench to bend the sprocket mostly back into place.

Rocking out the last switch back up to the pass summit:

Looking back towards Taylor Park from Taylor Pass:

    Nomnomnom:

Coming down the far side of Taylor Pass into Aspen:

    Colors are changing!

Stopped here to eat in Aspen:

Someone near me was being a dork and this is the face she gets!

    Some shots from the GoPro:

Going up Taylor from the Aspen side. A bit less rocky!

Time to go down the rocks!

After surviving the creek and falling over a few more times (and also the GoPro had technical difficulties so no pictures or video of the rocky side of Taylor) we got back to camp.

We took the dogs for a walk:

It was time to go collect firewood. Jumping on a small downed tree to try and split it since we forgot the camp axe. Even with my mass it acted like a spring and nearly made me fall on my face (I think that was her plan when she told me to jump on it...) .

Sucess! The pyro inside me was happy.

    Toasty toasty feet:

Not the best fire design but it worked for some s'mores.

Sunday morning was cold, and for some reason I was up before the sun was high in the sky.

It was time for pancakes (and also the dry ice had frozen the cream cheese), wooooooooohoo!

Apparently my hat is evil and needs to not be in pictures. :p
    [IMG]

We named out campsite, Camp 'D'

The autocluching 350's front brake was very spongy so it was time for a flush. Keeping the ginger beer next to the brake fluid can cause some interesting results...

    Ginger beer, or brake fluid?

    The dogs goofing around.

We stopped on the way to some single track to check out some old abandoned mining cabins:

I had to check the outhouse for Kraken's, you never know when they'll appear...

I was a little nervous about going in:

After laughing at me she walked in and the whole structure creaked loudly. Needless to say she did a rather hasty strategic retreat with the sound of my chuckling in the background...

    Lilly Pond trail!

    Trying to find Flag Moutain:

After a few wrong turns we ended up at Flag Mountain. Awesome views!

Looking toward Taylor Pass from Flag Moutnain:

Me dramatizing knee pain which was hurting from another front tire washout earlier in the day (I may need a new front tire...). She was skeptical but little did we know...

We took a single track connector road on the way down from Flag Mountain:

After some gnarly sections we noticed a rather peculiar noise coming from the front wheel of her bike. Apparently she bent her front rotor slightly. It was a job for the Giant Ass Crescent Wrench™ of bent-sprocket fame which made short work of it.

The squadron light is so awesome. We may have partially blinded ourselves trying it out the night before in camp. (The bike is new to me).

Some crazy woman started attacking me much to my confusion
    [IMG]

    And promptly ran away
    [IMG]

After coming down from the single track we passed by Spring Creek Resevior, naturally we decided to wash our bikes by riding into the lake...

We found a creek to play in a bit later too:

    She was completely soaked!

Apparently the amount of water coming off my bike and me was crazy:

The evening chill was setting in when we got back to camp.

Apparently I had been bleeding most of the day I thought I was just sweating. Ooops!

    All packed up!

On our way out of Taylor Park:

Going up the west side of Cottonwood Pass.

We got back about 22:00 after stopping for some tasty dinner at the Coyote Cantina in Johnson Village. I had to go to work at 23:30, and then had to stay awake for class from 13:00 - 15:00 the next day. I was hurting, but damn it was worth it!

My intel 4770k is getting slow. I need that new 4790k "devils canyon" cpu or just build another rig.
