we generally don't RSI but its not unheard of to do a cowboy RSI.

 

I had RSI at that job and the one before that. We RSI about once every other shift or so here in the ER. It's pretty simple. Post intubation management can get dicey if you don't spend a little time with a good RT before you try to fuck with a vent. I don't think medics have a place performing an RSI without a vent... But, the locals here do it.

 

We can’t under any circumstances here. So we’ll call a bird and they will. We’ve had quite a few that needed it.

 

We carry vents and Thumpers. Columbus was carrying the auto pukes last I heard. Don’t know why because they’re no more than 10 minutes from a Hosp and have a truck full of firemen with them on every call.

We’re 25-30 minutes from a Hosp. All our fire is volunteer so they may show up or not.

I had one show up on my scene one time and commence to tell me how to cut a car. I told that MF’er I’ve been cutting cars longer than your ass has been alive. Now kindly fuck off and go stand beside your POV. That was the day my jaw motor cut off on me mid cut and wouldn’t crank back up. Our second truck pulled up about that time and I used theirs. The firefuck started again with their truck would be there in a few min and I could use their tools. Oh, you mean the ones you guys bought on your own and we won’t let you use? Ha!
