Darnit! everyone and their brother said it's supposed to rain tonight, so I didn't ride the bike in...as soon as I get here, suddenly the 'storm of the century' isn't happening till Thursday and it's just a light fog tonight.

 

If it makes you happy, it rained here on the way in.

 

Hah! I love the rain, and was looking forward to splashing through some puddles on the way in. There's a bunch of low points on our north road that flood during high tide, which is the middle of the day, but during heavy rain, I get off shift and can splash through a couple inches of fun

 

There's a croud tonight lol. Hi everyone! Nothing but bitter sweet southern humidity down here.

Got my eyes on a new one lol. A lady downstairs is selling hers after the first of the year. It is crazy nice compaired to the one I just got rid of lol. All I have to do is hold myself back from buying that 4th gen 4runner V8 I was talking about yesterday.. Man those things are nice.. About in the same price range too

 

Also, if I get the urge to drive one too bad in the mean time, my dad and brother each have one that I am welcome too lol

 

Finished loading my first piece for the nite. A whopping 7 tons of chromoly steel for a 9FA gas turbine unit. Now I get to relax till 3am and let the machine do its work.

 

Done till 3AM? I'm coming to work with you

 

Yea. 2 parts per nite. 3.5 hr cycle times each. Prob 20 mins each for cleanup.
It's a great gig but pretty dangerous sometimes. Even with the part dangling 10 ft in the air over a safety stand its still pretty sketchy cleaning underneath.

 

Well I guess I would be a little uncomfortable working directly under 7 plus tons too. Hard to picture exactly what you do, but it doesnt sound to bad.

 

Anyone here own or owned a 4th gen 4runner?

Lucky for me I happened to be at my desk, in between rounds.

Sitting here, listening to my boilers humming away, I hear an odd, pfftt, sizzle. I look around and under my desk and I notice smoke coming out of the space heater. I scream fuck! and reach over and shut off the power strip power. At that time I can smell that wonderful, burnt wire smell. I still don't know why the breaker didn't trip. Must have been some heater control wiring that let go.

Of course,that shuts off my computer. Have to reboot that bastard. Of course i can't remember which password gets me into this site. Finally remembered it.

Needless to say that space heater is no longer with us.

I could have worse problems, accountants get paper cuts...those hurt.

I'd kill for a space heater. My machine is inbetween 2 huge bay doors with forktruck traffic in and out all nite. Glad you didn't set the place on fire.

Well, my only issue for evening was a turbine governor being cranky bastard and not wanted to hold the load. Notification put in, then I sit back and keep reading my book and checking in here every so often

 

Here too ... sort of ... more of an irritating drizzle. Temps are right for freezing rain in the morning. yay ...

I'm done too now ... only two plans ... was starting on the second one when op ctr tells me no cargo ... cause the crew says they won't have time to load with their air refuel requirements ... frickin' BS ... lazy bastids ... ABORT RANT

Like the accountant remark ...
