I really want my CCW but haven’t taken the time to do it.

Ours involves a trip to the county Sherriff, fill out the paper, pay the fee, and wait 3 weeks for them to mail it to you

 

That blows, and if they're not following what you're legally supposed to work, you have grounds to file a complaint with DOL or whoever. Sounds like you guys are shortstaffed.

We're like that, we have two people per shift so if you want to take time off, you basically screw over the other person on shift to cover for you. Hence why I have to work like two weeks straight again at the end of the month. My counterpart never takes time off so she has to blow it all at the end of the year and takes big 7-10 day chunks off. I guess the OT is nice but damn, I wish they're hire a couple more people. She's got another week she's taking in December, too I think.

We're like that, too. Go in do paperwork, prints, and pay then, wait for the background check to clear and it comes in the mail.

You have to have a course here though. My military experience counted for mine, though.

 

I'm emailing my captain and asking to have an appointment with him to talk about this. it's not worth fighting my lieutenant over because when she finds out with sets me off she will use it to start f****** with me.

We don't require any training. Which years ago, most people grew up with guns so it wasn't a big deal....not so much anymore. It wouldn't bother me if they'd require a course.

Maybe she was just thinking you'd like to leave. Just wait and see how it plays out before working yourself up. If it doesn't go the way you want, you have a backup plan

 

we are critically short staffed. We used to get incentives to work extra shifts (extra 20.50 an hour). However, they claim we are broke. Doesn’t stop executives from giving themselves fat bonuses.

 

fuck no she isn't. She is looking for whatever ways makes her look fucking better to leadership. She doesn't give 2 fucks about any of us who work under her.

 

Most ranges around here offer a CHP (CCW/CPL) course for $50-$70. A lot of them have specials and sales for holidays and whatnot, too. The fee for the permit itself is ~$100 I think.

 

Yeah, fuck that. Only advice I can give you for that is this.

Ours is $20 a year. We can pay up to 5 yrs at the time.

 

I'm on there constantly and I try to keep my resume updated. Always looking for something better.

Sounds about the same for MN, but I can't remember if ours are 4 or 5 years. We are required to go in and take a course as well which runs anywhere from $60-100.
