    Cha-Ching. $$$ ;)

I worked Christmas A couple yrs back because there were no active duty military load planners available to cover the shift. When I took one of the load plans down to Ramp (they load the planes), the NCO on duty asked me, "What did this cost us, about $500?" ... "Yep, something like that." :D

Yep, 5 stories, 2 at a time! Glad I wasn't down on B with the alarm on 8:eek: I'd probably still be crawling up the steps:annoyed: We have over 300 beds occupied. On Dec. 16 we set a new all time record 333 beds! And the flu hasn't even got a head of steam yet:eek:

I'm at work... working on my HomerTaco grill install. Hope to be done before another wave of rain comes today. Currently driving around with no front end...

I haven't actually driven one with the AT, so you might need to check your manual. In my wife's 2014 Highlander, you can manually shift the auto trans by pulling the shift lever to the right allowing you to select gears down and up by pushing the lever forward and aft; I'm honestly not sure how to make it stay out of overdrive while still shifting automatically. I'll have to check the manual; I rarely drive her Highlander. Her Ford Escapes both had buttons to press which locked out overdrive. i'll check her manual to see if I can point you in the right direction. I expect it's a similar set up. Maybe someone else with the AT will chime in.

The reason I brought it up in the first place, was because the Escapes were horrible with hunting between 3rd and 4th (OD) around 45 MPH, so I always used the OD off button 'til I was on the hwy. Probably sounds funny, but she's had the Highlander 7 months and I've only driven it maybe 3 times. I'll go have a look at that manual. I'm up with nothing to do, And now I'm curious and a little embarassed that I don't know for sure.

 Hi Kevin. Do you know how to set the autotrans to shift automatically but not go into overdrive? Is your '07 the same as his 2014 transmission wise?

I have an auto but the shifter is just moved over to 4? Kinda like a manual shift auto. Damn. Now I have to get dressed and go look. You know I only drive mine on the weekends.

It's not easy but it's not hard. The more time you take the better it'll look.

Ok, I checked the manual, if I'm interpreting the Toyotaese correctly, moving the shift lever from the right "D" to the left "S5" (on the Highlander 6spd trans) limits the upper most available gear. In other words, the transmission will shift thru the gears but stop at 5th versus shifting into 6th. Pushing the lever forward in "S mode" successively lowers the upper most available gear, down to 4th or 3rd in the Highlander. There are also overrides to prevent damage to the engine limiting how low/at what speed you can select a lower gear. Clear as mud? Now I'm gonna have to experiment next time my wife "lets" me drive her baby. Funny, she doesn't have any problem letting me make the payments. Wonder if the driving part has something to do with my playing with the transmission?
