    Agreed. We're snowboarding/skiing this weekend.
I wanna get outta here before someone calls in sick with the COVID.
Rumor has it that if anyone here gets it, they're going to quarantine us here at work for two weeks.
Told 'em if that happens, I'm quitting unless they pay me for all 336 hours. Even then I might quit. I can barely stand these people for 40 hours a week.

Aw man, I have the perfect Ricky bobby meme but I’m not getting banned over it.

do you see 5G/wireless being the future for all communications? IE no wired tv/internet in homes? Would save a boatload on infrastructure maintenance

We were doing the math earlier. 2 weeks of around the clock double time if you were quarantined. Those some big numbers. We were debating if we could do it without killing ourselves or those around us.

Could I do that for $25k? None of us want to find out.

Haha, not worth it. I don't think the mods even care about us anyway. Except Nunya every now and then...
I'm sure "5G" will be the next mobile thing. I don't see it replacing all communications, no. Wireless will never be as fast or reliable as a wired connection.

Yeah, I'm wondering how it'd pay out. 80hr normal and 256hrs time and a half? Be a little over $8k before the government theft hits.

24 hours around the clock for 2 weeks would be right around 20 grand at time and a half, never mind hazard pay or whatever else they’d have to pay.

edit: shit didn’t factor in my normal 80

Damn, they just hired 5 here; come out this way. The work is boring AF but it pays well. Housing and rent prices are through the fucking roof around here though...so it all evens out.

Yeah, housing and rent here is expensive as hell, too.
Work is boring as hell but I could do worse than $22/hr with 10% shift diff.
About to get bumped up to $27/hr or so in the next couple months. Along with possibility for raises at the end of each year.

when I first started with the state in 08, I was making just over $12/hr... a few job changes and reclassifications later I’m a little over 3x that plus the $1/hr differential for overnight. Our union tries to negotiate a 2-3%yr cost of living increase when it’s contract time...

They do yearly raises based on performance reviews up to 5% I think. We haven't been able to partake though. Something about type of contract we're under.
Should be changing with the pay raise this month/next month. They're changing our job titles and allowing us in on some of that sweet yearly raise action.

We used to only have 9 lol
But IT doesn't seem to understand the nature of the phone issues we were having thru the network so they gave us more land lines and some cell phones

In at $13-$13.50 depending on if in dispatch or patrol. We've been waiting on raises for over a year. Supposedly it's close. My boss proposed I make $18 but we shall see. Anything is an improvement but the sad thing is I could work for HEB or Chik Fil A and make $15 and they don't require a TWIC and safety council, or a security license.
