why the fuck would they think that now is the time to not pay front line workers what they’re worth to risk their lives? The health insurance companies were making money hand over fist and one little blip in the economy and they’re passing the cost onto the ones who matter the most?!?

    such bullshit.

So I bought the cup holder inserts from tufskinz and thought the black/orange were gonna match my interior. However, I needed it in caramel. I’m likely going to paint it. Which type tho? Acrylic from Apple barrel?

They supposedly cut the CRNA's pay in half and they are making them work more hours in ICU.

First off, what does the profit of a hospital have to do with health insurance? Yeah, the health insurances are probably coming out ahead right now since most elective surgeries have been canceled plus traumas are down due to people staying at home, so they are paying out less. The hospitals however are hemorrhaging money due to far fewer patients. Very few hospitals are full. Most aren't even at 50% capacity. Hospitals don't have a huge profit margin regardless of what you think. Almost every single hospital in this country is operating in the red right now. If they don't furlough and reduce pay, how are they going to pay the workers they need?

The hospital I work at is probably around 25% capacity and there are a lot of doctors, nurses, techs, etc. that honestly have very little to do. So far we are all working full time and still being paid, but how long can that go on? Yes, getting laid of would suck and having my pay reduced would suck, but I also understand it's a business like any other. Hospitals don't have magic money anymore than any other business does.

Here's an article of hospitals going bankrupt before the virus got here. It's going to be much worse after several months of almost no elective surgeries.

Some will. Some won't. Still doesn't change the fact the hospitals are losing money right now. Eventually, no one gets paid. It sucks but hospitals aren't immune to economics any more than any other business.

That sounds a lot like life, doesn't it? Stuff rolls down hill. A business is in business to make a profit or it doesn't stay in business. Healthcare is no different.
Like I said, it sucks, but what are they supposed to do?

The hospital down the road from mine just gave all employees a 10% reduction and all management a 25% reduction in pay plus furloughed about 20% of their employees. They were barely making it before this happened. Will be interesting to see how they do after.

Absolutely sucks since they really are front and center. I’m a first responder and I’ve been getting hazard pay for a month now. So basically double what I normally make. That’s what a union is good for.

I live in MA, our hospitals are pretty full and they’ve opened a number of field hospitals to accommodate the overflow.
The government is just printing more money to throw at this so why not pay the people appropriately who are being put in harm’s way rather than cutting pay and raising expectations?
They’re allegedly working on the hazard pay for us when we have to report into the office every/other week.

She is an awesome companion for my 7 month old golden, they seem like they are going to be an awesome pair.
