I live in MA, our hospitals are pretty full and they’ve opened a number of field hospitals to accommodate the overflow.
The government is just printing more money to throw at this so why not pay the people appropriately who are being put in harm’s way rather than cutting pay and raising expectations?
They’re allegedly working on the hazard pay for us when we have to report into the office every/other week.

She is an awesome companion for my 7 month old golden, they seem like they are going to be an awesome pair.

I'm sure they are, but many are still losing money.
MA hospitals are getting a huge chunk of Federal bailout money to help with their loses. Hopefully it keeps more people employed.

So most of the sick people don’t have insurance? I know I pay a shit ton every year and never use it.

Which sick people? Those admitted for C19 are covered by either insurance or state/federal. Problem is there really aren't that many of them. Most don't need many of the services a hospital provides, so those departments are just doing nothing. Almost every hospital in the country stopped doing elective surgeries. That's how they made money. Most hospitals have lost all their profit margin and are losing money every day. The ICU is just a small part of what the hospital provides, but for the most part that's the only thing ramped up right now. There just aren't enough non covid patients to make up the difference.

So why did we shut the world down if there really isn’t that many? I mean the media would have you believe they’re piling up bodies on every Main Street of every town. #fakefuckingnews

Well, yeah. That's definitely another discussion.
We are learning from one study out in CA and from data collected from the USS Roosevelt, plus another study of homeless somewhere on the east coast (I can't remember which state) that the prevalence is far greater than we thought. More than 50% don't exhibit any symptoms at all. We are basically only testing those with symptoms, so the actual number of infected is probably twice as high as reported. Then if that's the case, the mortality rate is much lower than thought.

It still adds up to a lot of people, even with a low mortality rate, if we all contract the virus. I suppose you have to assume we were all going to get it if we didn't shut things down. Still some areas of the country are being hit hard while most aren't.

This map kinda shows how most of the land area of the US really isn't being affected that much. Some cities however are taking a beating.

Struggle is real Man. On a double, been busy. Locked some ass hat up for domestic. Wasn’t happy about it. He didn’t speak English so that was fun. The covid protocols made it even more of a pain but it’s over now. Cruise control til 8am Lol. How’s your night?

Yes, I think that is correct. We are just changing the shape of the curve, but the area under the curve will stay the same. Which means we keep going like this for who knows how long.

Our half of the shift working from home this week. However, have to report in for the holiday tomorrow. Our protocols are all fuct due to the covid. Hands are tied on some cases though.

Tryin to get fresh produce and meat around here has been tough but some of the local farm stands have opened early for the season and we’ve been trying different local butchers, at a premium cost. Not sure if you saw but BJ’s is doing a first responder/healthcare worker hour every Sunday from 8-9.

Resorted to frozen burgers last night; first grillin night of the season. Got 4” of snow on Saturday and was sunny and 62 Sunday so we busted the grill out of hibernation.

I ended up getting some Bourbon Marinated steak tips using curbside pickup a couple towns over at $15.99/lb that we’ll have later on in the week.

Those ribeyes were about 2lbs each at $11 per lb. I haven’t seen snow in maybe 3 years.
