The last one we did we just loaded the bigger stuff into the Taco and walked a lot of the other stuff over to the new place.
Any house we get is probably going to be within a half hour drive so it'll likely be multiple trips loading up our vehicles or a UHaul...

I think I moved five times during the eight years I was in the army. Six if you could putting everything in storage for nine months when we were out of country.

Other than move.mil being the worst website/experience on the planet I’m almost ok with the navy moving me. When we were in MD we moved across town on our own and you’re right it’s the worst. Never again! Hopefully I only have two moves left tops. Less if I can get away with it.

    Hey guys

I always have a massive leave balance so I always let them take everything then we have an epic road trip. Last move (MD to WA) was a 21 day drive and involved stops in Nashville, Key West, all along the gulf coast, and up the PCH.

Ah nice. I always just took the shit that I didn't want the moving company to break/steal with me and let them take everything else. I'd use take an extra day or two from whatever they gave me and just took my time. Usually avoided the interstates, too. Made for some great views and interesting places.

In hindsight that’s probably the best idea. Last move they lost my handgun while packing everything up, so we had to unpack everything find it, and repack it all. Then they put all of my long guns on the wrong truck when they went out for delivery and took two days to find them. I’d still rather not deal with a partial though.

Yikes. Guns, computer, paperwork, books, and vinyl all went with me.
Only thing I had stolen was a couple boxes that went "missing" when I had to leave everything in storage during a deployment. One had some computer parts, all of my DVDs and some books in it. The other was a shadowbox with a signed Steve Yzerman jersey in it. Wish I could've found the asshole(s) who took my shit.

That sucks. I’ve never had anything stolen, plenty damaged, but not stolen. I left all of my service uniforms and better in a box in storage while I was IA, and they all got eaten by mice. That was awkward.

So you mention vinyl, I just decided today to look for a decent turntable. Any suggestions?

Ah, I've had bookshelves and office chairs and stuff like that damaged before, too. Never had issues with uniforms or TA-50.

As far as turntables, that completely depends on how much you're willing to spend and what kind of setup you're looking for.
The one I have is garbage because I don't have space for a decent setup right now.
However, Audio-Technica has a couple of models that are decent.
The LP120 (~$250) and the LP60 ($100). If you're good with spending more than that, there are other higher end options but those two are considered good beginner ones.

That’s about as much as I want to spend right now. I saw an ad for ATX Record Players today, and figured I can do the same thing for less on my own.

Ahh, gotcha. I don't have the space in the small apartment for a player with dedicated speakers so I have a super cheapo player hooked to my TV's sound bar.

My fucking A/C coils froze over. I'm hoping I can get the repair guy out. It should still be under warranty. I'm fucking burning up.

Turn the A/c off and switch to fan only. It will thaw the block of ice, then you can run the A/C when the ice is gone. Generally it means you are low on refrigerant, but is not all not gone.

Did that, dried the coils. Turned the A/C back on and the coils started to freeze immediately. I'll call the place at 8 as soon as they open.
