I had to give up coffee and energy drinks. I would drink a 20oz red bull when I got to work and a cup of coffee for the drive home. I couldn't sleep more than 4 hours in a day. Haven't had any since March....it's killing me lol

Worked a 2000-0600 grave for 4 months. Never slept more than 3 hrs a night and usually got about an hour nap in before my next shift. It damn near killed me.

Now I'm on a 1600-0200 swing. I lost a weekend day off to get this shift. I'm an 8 hours of sleep a night kind of guy. I Never thought getting 4 or 5 hours sleep a night would feel so amazing.

That was the other thing that killed me on graves. My weekend started at 0600 on Sunday. Sundays were the only full day I got with the kiddos so I usually slept for an hour or two at the most so I could spend as much time as possible with them. I'd have to get 10-12 hours sleep sunday night to recover.

Graves suck ass. I'm dreading going back to them, as it looks like I'll have to the first of the year.

Same here. 6hrs is a good days sleep, usually average 5hrs. Started taking melatonin 3mg before sleeping during the day, it helped a little. I'm off tomorrow so I'll sleep 3hrs when I get home, wake up 1300, sleep again 2200 with the Mrs. That schedule allows for day time adjustment.

For some reason when I take melatonin I get about 3 hours of sleep. The couple days I didn't take it I get at least 5 hours of sleep. I keep a small fan on to cut the background noise around the house. I also notice when I work nights I get leg cramps like crazy!
