    Ain't nothing wrong with that!

Every time you make a mod on a vehicle you are trading something off.

Most of the easy power adders for the Tacoma (like the factory TRD charger) still require larger fuel injectors a larger fuel pump and only add like 60 HP tops.

    :bananadead:

You want more then you really start adding the bucks.

I calculated my "dream setup" for my 4.0 and it's like 7-8k to get to 350-400hp.

For about that I could LS3 swap have the same power and be more reliable.

Problem I'm running into with that is how to keep 4x4 and get all the Toyota stuff to work.

I could 2UZ swap to stay in the family but then I would lose the 6 speed and I like rowing my gears

Ultimately kit all comes down to money I don't have though.

    :annoyed:

    Story if my life.

    :anonymous:

If money were no object I would get a Toyota hilux turbo V8 diesel LC79!

"the official #s on the base kit is 320hp / 350 ft lbs" that's what was said for TT. SC kits are making 280-320 depending on what dyno I look at. The difference doesn't seem big hp wise. Both are going to be limited by fueling capabilities. The OVT kit will obviously produce a higher tq number at lower rpm.

I like the SC kits for a daily driver. I like the idea of not tapping into the factory oil and cooling system, not having to rely on map safeties if a wg line or cap breaks and results in overboost (this has happened to me + 4 friends), less chance of lspi (plagues turbo DI engines especially) because of less cylinder pressure at low rpm, virtually no chance of boost or exhaust leaks, etc. Pop a coupler on a MAF turbo set up and you're in for a bad time.

Gonna be closely following the OVT installs. Hopefully people will post datalogs of pulls and towing. Would be real curious to analyze those
