Yeah, it's a bullshit game. I'm sure most people just take the money and run. I wanted my TJ fixed......until the quote was over 12K and they offered 8'5K to buy it. I didn't pay but 10K for 9yrs earlier......so I accepted.

I mean, I'd rather have it fixed up or a check to fix it up. I don't want to have to deal with another car payment. I doubt I'd get much for a 2010 PreRunner with 156k miles.

You also get to choose your shop. You don't have to take it to the insurance companies shop. Find a shop you trust and will work with you.

Oh, I already picked one of Allstate's "Good Hands Repair Network" shops lol
I don't know any other shops in the area, I usually end up doing everything myself

You can go where you want at any time. Allstate should only get involved if they have to cover you if you're deemed at fault. If the other guy is at fault.....they have no skin in the game.

Ah, well I still haven't heard back from anyone about who's at fault.
Will his insurance agency contact me if he's at fault?

In network can be easier. When I had issues with my speed3 after repairs "yOu dIdNt UsE a NeTwOrK sHoP" and made it such a hassle to get shit fixed correctly I just gave up

Allstate said they have me at zero fault.
I'll be dropping the truck off on Thursday.
Said I pay the $500 deductible to the shop and then once repairs are made, they'll work with the other guy's insurance to get my deductible back to me..
Sounds like they're gonna try and screw me out of $500...

Fuck that. Call the guy's insurance. You shouldn't have to come out of pocket.

You should sue for triple damages for having to front that $500. in this economy, many people don’t just have a spare $500 laying around.

No way in fuck would I pay that. I'd keep my insurance out of it. The only time I talked with my insurance was after Safeway started dicking around. They told me that if they had to, they'd pay and then go after Safeway.

    Oh......and Sup Bill

Huh. Maybe I'll give his insurance company a call tomorrow or something.
I have some in savings but I'm not real keen on giving $500 away.
If I'm going to get reimbursed, what's the point of paying it up front at all. Why doesn't Allstate pay and reimburse themselves.

I dealt with Safeway. Once I picked where to take it, the shop then dealt with them.

I'll call up his place in the morning and tell them that Allstate said I'm not at fault. I guess?

I would. I got rear ended while sitting at a red light, so there was no question at all who was at fault

So I guess call them up and tell them "your guy's at fault, I'm taking it to X place for inspection"?
Then call Allstate and tell em I'm handling it through his insurance company?

That's what I would do. Your insurance should only get involved if the other guy's doesn't want to pay. At that point, your insurance will pay and then go after the other insurance company.

Huh. I shoulda looked all this up before I talked to my insurance company lol
You think that'll cause an issue that I already filed a claim with Allstate? Or should I be able to "cancel" that?

You get a estimate from a shop that isn’t on their list of “companion” shops. Say you want to use them and you get the check. On shops in their network the check gets sent directly to the shop for repairs.

I’ve always gotten estimates from shops not on their list. I get the check then talk the shop down on price or get what I want repaired and then fix the other myself. How I got my plate bumper.

I would assume you can cancel it.
Yeah, fuck those "in network" shops......especially if I'm not having to pay for it. Those guys will often do shit/cheap work b/c of the steady income from the "network"
