Shops don’t charge for estimates. They want your business. I usually get about 2-3 estimates and offer up the highest one to them. They’ll pay a little less then you’ll have extra over what it costs. I used to take my shit to the highest end shop in town for estimates.

 

Nah, you just need to talk to some of us that have been there a few times. We know how this shit goes.

True. If his insurance company gives me shit though, I can't threaten that I'll get my TacomaWorld buddies and sue them.

Any shop can amend their estimate after they dig into the repair to the insurance company.

 

I suppose that's true.
If it's just the bumper, I'll tell them I can do the repairs myself but if there's anything frame/non-visible then whatever shop I take it to is gonna have to do it.

I wonder if they'll cover a rental too even though I don't think I pay Allstate for rental reimbursment.

 

Safeway covered mine. I did have to pay it upfront though.

 

I feel like that'd be sketchier to get back than having to do the deductible up front.

 

I just gave them the receipt and they added it to the total. I only had it for a week before I bought my truck.

After my initial phone call to my insurance, I never spoke to them again. I took it to the shop of my choice and told Safeway where it was at. From then on, the shop would email/deal with Safeway. I was part of the email chain b/t them though.

Yeah, first thing I did was file the claim with my insurance online. whoops.

 

Welp... it’s my Friday, off in a few hrs. Was eyeing the election results most of the shift. Now sadly I worry I’ll wake up to a world going to shit...

 

I don't see why it'd be a problem to end your claim with Allstate. I don't have much experience with it. The TJ was the first time I've ever dealt with insurance. I wrecked my T4R when I was younger, but my folks dealt with that.

My wife was up watching that when I left for work. Had to tell her to leave it alone and go to bed. Won't make a difference if you stay up late and find out or find out in the morning. Except she'll be tired as hell in the morning if she stays up.. I haven't been paying attention. When they call it I'll find out. Don't care enough about the 24/7 news cycle BS to watch anything on it.
