No kidding. Couple days without a post it looks like.

It's going. Heard back about the truck, looks like some bent brackets/fender damage. I need to call em in the morning to let them know to go ahead and do everything except replace the bumper itself. I'll take a check for that.. See if I can find a stock one for cheap and pocket the difference.

How's things with you? Any more earthquakes?

Sounds like Good news/bad news on the truck. New parts will be nice. make sure you try to get diminished value too; an accident on carfax costs big money at trade in.

I don't remember ever experiencing one. Even with living in California for a few years..
I think they just changed up some of the schedules around here again. Don't think they shut the city/state down just yet though.

I only heard the voicemail. Shop called after I'd gone to bed. Once I call in the morning, I'll get a better idea about what needs to be done, etc.
I'll have to talk to Allstate too about the diminished value. See if they can work that out when they talk to the dude's insurance company. Not that the truck is worth much at trade in to begin with.. I think KBB said $5-7k last time I looked.

I was gonna buy my last leased 3rd gen til I found out the deer strike that did like 7-8k in damage took around 5k off the trade in. I’m sure Toyota was just bullshitting me to get me into a new lease and they make the profit on the equity and cpo sale but when I looked at f-150s they said something similar. My folks had a Highlander that got hit on the highway and the trooper indicated in his report that the airbags deployed when they never did; that dropped the trade in like 7 grand and they had to have the report and carfax amended.

Well shit. Guy on the phone said it was ~$3200 from what they can see. Part of that being the bumper itself, I imagine.
Allstate called yesterday too, I think. To see how the claim was going. I'll return their call and ask about the diminished value aspect.

Hmm, diminished value claim might be a pain.
From what I'm reading older cars and higher mileage won't usually get paid anything.
Truck is 10 years old with 156k miles...
That in conjunction with their insurance company allegedly being a PITA to deal with doesn't sound good.

It's my ocd. I refuse to lose 670 days of lessons.

I actually was doing a lesson in the middle of Tampa Bay pleasantly drunk.

I wouldn't worry at all about DV. That's for retarded people that trade their cars in every 2 years.

You won't lose a dime in value on your Toyota. Get it fixed and move on.

I mean, if it's going to show up on a VIN check if I ever sell/trade-in the truck, it'll take some of the value off, no? If his insurance company accepts fault, couldn't hurt to file it. Probably not worth paying an independent appraiser a ton of money though?

I own Toyota's with salvage titles. I never have trouble selling them when I'm ready to move on to the next project. A vehicle with a clear title but a useless car fax report reporting damage is not on my worry meter.

A Toyota with 200k+ on the clock and a salvage title sells the same as the same truck and miles with a clear title. It just takes a little longer to sell the salvage title vehicle.

Carfax is is business. They exist only to make that $50 search fee. They are never used by me or my crew doing vehicle research.

People buying are 10+ year old vehicles are not going to go to the hassle of running a vin check for damage. Besides, what DMV is going to give you and appointment to research something so trivial?

I know you will be fine getting the truck fixed and moving on.

Lastly, vehicles are terrible investments. If you own a vehicle, you are losing money.
