These past 2 nights have drug by. I'm hoping it's not this way for the next 6

 

Not the busiest Thanksgiving I've ever worked, but close to it. This is normally a pretty quiet week on nights, but the tempo is a bit up from normal. Hopefully Christmas week will be a bit slower.

Now, the worst Thanksgiving I ever had was several years back working nights at Landstuhl when a plane full of burn patients came in from Afghanistan. Don't remember if it was a stryker or MRAP or what, but every single person on board was alive and burned. One guy went in several times to get everyone out. I won't even try to describe what condition he was in, but I shed a few tears just typing this and it's been many years. It was either 8 or 10 severely burned patients hitting the door at once. Was one of the busiest nights I've ever had and has completely changed what the word hero means to me. We kept them all alive for the burn team to come from the States. Wish they all made it on that end, but was really amazing some lived as long as they did.

Anyway, it's impossible for me to work a Thanksgiving night and not remember that.

 

Thank you for sharing that. I can tell it is very, very special to you. I'm sure it completely changed the way you looked at many aspects of life.
