9 hours of OT. Don't mind the money but I'm fuckin tired.
I'd rather stay late/come in early for OT instead of losing a day off lol

yeah, I’d much rather 4 10s as well, I know a lot of the govt agencies allow people to flex their time as long as they get the work done... can’t do that in a reactive environment where the workload varies minute by minute.

We used to do 4/3. Could flex there and do 4 10s or 2 12s and 2 8s whatever. But now we're on 5/2 and can't stay late or nothin because of Covid.
Hoping we go back to the 4/3 soon 2 day 'weekend' on nights sucks ass.

Hell, our city elders are bitching to the Chief about all the OT our dept is pulling right now.

    Public safety doesn't stop.

One of my officers said he almost had 40+ OT hours on last pay cycle. We are down a few spots, and have been helping fill in on shifts. An extra 12 hrs on my check goes a long way. But anything over 20 hours is just asking for a raping from the guv't. X

my last job id try to pick up 2-3 extra shifts a week but it was fast paced and easy money. That was before a wife and kids. I’d be bored to death at my current place and I like keeping my 2 days off as days off. A few of my friends on the job sometimes double their salary in a year with OT and details.

My last job, the Chief was a penny pincher. Would not turn lose of no money. All OT had to be approved by him. Personally.

My new gig, Chief is like come to work. Make results, write some tickets, and everyone goes home. We're not the highest paid in the county, but no micromanagement. Which is what I love.

We have people that'll work for a couple weeks straight or just have 1 day off a week and just rake in the OT.
Could do the same if I wanted but like Bill said, I like to keep my two days off. Only time I really get with the wife.
If I worked days, I'm sure it'd be different since we'd actually get some time together during the week.

Right now my work is having us do 5 12's overnight, followed by a 8 hour day. So I got off at 3am this morning, and came back in at 9 Am this morning and I'll be here for another two hours until the project I'm on is done. And we're doing this schedule until summer... major OT pay but it definitely puts a strain on the home life.

Just like i said to Ian,
    make that paper!

just make damn sure you’re around to enjoy that $$, burning the candle at both ends leads to an early demise.

my kids are growing up so fast before my eyes; this COVID shit certainly ain’t helping

Funny you say that, I'm on my way to the airport right now to go buy my new (to me) Tacoma and drive it 7 hours home! Big plans for it eventually, but for now it's just the fun.

first, I thought I had it tied down when I was taking it to work. Pictures will show that was a lie. Now I tried to install the new bumper but my sides don’t look flushed with the fenders. Trying to figure out if I need to replace the bumper guide’s. Also noticed that clips on both sides got chipped to a point where it won’t hold.
