I got her a dash cam and a 23andme kit. Bunch of chocolate in the stocking.
Whatever she got me is supposed to come tomorrow, she says.

Been on nights for a year at this job, in my working history I've spent ~3.5-4 years on nights. Took nights at this job since I can fall asleep at 5 am, but I sure as hell cant go to sleep at 6pm and be up at 2 am.

I had a 6 month period where we rotated from day/swing/graveyard and man did that suck the soul out of me. Could barely get used to one schedule and had to change it again. If it pays the bills it works though.

That’s a good amount of time on graveyard. I’m on the other side of the world right now and it happens to line up with graveyard in the states. Always throws me off trying to stay in touch with relatives back home or coordinating any thing with anyone stateside.

Yeah that sounds familiar. Anytime I plan on going to sleep at a certain time, my brain decides to do it’s own thing and be fully alert though

Yeah, I hate nights. I did rotating stuff a few years back, too and that was kinda shitty. Just when you'd get used to one schedule, you'd switch to a different shift.. At least on that one we'd get a taste of days.. We'd also get the weirdos who liked the night/swing shift and would ask to stay on it for longer.

    Sup sup, Happy Christmas

I was in corrections for the first 6, started with 3-11 tues/weds off so I went to nights to get better days off, then Promoted to a higher rank that happened to be on overnight. Came over to probation on 3-11 with tues/weds off for a couple years and came down to nights for better days. I had sun/mon off for a few years and now Fri/sat on a 5/2 schedule. Being with my wife and kids every night for dinner and bedtime and with them on the weekends is worth a shitty shift.

How did you like corrections? I thought about doing that a while back but I’ve heard some horror stories about getting stuck with the weird hours for the first bit of your time working that job.

Sucked; but it was a way into the state retirement system with a ton of overtime. Definitely numbs you to shit you hear about on the news and makes you suspect everyone in society not on the “good side”.
Wouldn’t wanna be in a confined space like that now, that’s for sure.

Yeah that makes sense. The benefits is what drew me in that direction but in the end I decided against it.

I've been on this schedule for a good bit. I actually enjoy it more than my Sun-Wed I use to do. The 6 off makes it all worthwhile. Plus, I'll get 12hrs OT for Christmas :D

I suppose that is a lot better than my 6 on 1 off. If I could get your schedule I'd take it too.

6th office shutdown tonight, gotta get tested Tomorrow afternoon and quarantine thru Xmas while awaiting results... I love that I pay fucking union dues for management to completely disregard protocol.
