Yup, I'm Hoping they bump up the shift differential at least after this. The thing that has everyone pissed is the Fabrication Manager said the guys on nights have to stay on nights forever, when he even started on nights and each one of us signed a release that we want to have a choice on going to days.


It is just BS but my bills are paid , my kids are fed.

Although wife would be happier with me home @ night and I'd be happier if I had more money!

Same here. Just sat down.

 

Just sat down and the calls started coming in for power outs. Power Plant is running tests. If they would've read their email they would've known Not much I can do about it now.

 

Bummer for them if they weren't prepared

 

Don't wanna go to work tomorrow... Going to be a crap show, but I get a profit sharing bonus!

 

Just a few more hours, and one more shift then I'm on vacation for a week.

 

I got 1.5 shifts, then hello vaca.

 

about 7 more hours and I am on vacation to the snow with some awesome kids! Wish my own was old enough to tag along.

 

Geez look at all of you and your vacation. Only PTO I'm planning is when we move into our house. I get 3 weeks of shutdown around the holidays though

 

Well, I'm supposed to be at work tonight....but i'm playing hooky.

I need to schedule a sick day. I seldom take any sick time. I seem to get sick when its already my day off.

Funny story. A former coworker and the supervisor got into an argument on the use of sick leave. Coworker told the boss that he did not need to give a reason why he called in sick. Supervisor insisted that a reason for taking a sick day must be given when calling in. These guys argued for a good half hour. Basically they agreed to disagree and would be checking with HR the next time they worked the day shift.

The next night the coworker called in sick. The supervisor wanted to know what was wrong that he needed a sick day. He said his teeth itched and hung up. That boss was pissed.

In the end, the coworker was correct. As long as a worker does not have a bad habit of taking sick time often, no reason needed to be given. Chronic abusers require a doctor visit note to get sick time.

 

I got another funny story for tomorrow. Need to finish up the paperwork before EOW.

 

We have paid personal time, vacation time and 5 days unpaid sick time.
No excuse is needed for any of them. They know that when you are out of days, youll be there the rest of the year
or you wont have a job anymore.

 

Sick time is paid-80 hours worth. That 2 weeks more vacation to a lot of people around here.

 

I'm sitting on 110hrs of PTO. To take at my discretion. If I call in its my choice. But we don't get the shift differential (about 10%) When they asked why we should get the differential, I pointed out when you work 3rd shift you pretty much have to stay on schedule if you only take a day or two. They just don't get it

 

Employers don't need to know why you're sick, you call in, that's it. Our hospital has a policy that after three days of missed work you need a Dr's note, then you see the employee health nurse. I've called in sick on various occasions, mostly due to GI issues or my kids are sick and I can't find a babysitter. It sucks, but that's the reason for sick leave (if you have it) or PTO time (which doubles as sick leave for us).

 

Got my one night off tonight but I have work tomorrow night so I got to stay up 3rd shift life.

 

Day Light Savings time just turned my 12 hour shift into an 11 hour shift tonight not to bad. I wonder how I will get paid.
