sorry I just saw you had answered me. I grew up trout fishing in Big Creek right in front of my parents which flowed into the AuSable about a mile as the crow flies from my parents. I drank A LOT of beer in Deeters! and for sure a bummer on it burning up but they are damn near done rebuilding the new Ma Deeter's bar and should be open by summer from what I hear. My family all still live in the Luzerne area. As far as the U.P., I live in Watersmeet (about 45 minutes west of Crystal falls) and work in Ironwood. I run hounds on black bear up here, to which the bear hunting is still fantastic, the deer hunting is kinda sad depending where you are hunting. Fortunately I got a 6 point this fall.

I work 12's 6 days on 8 days off so I rarely have to take PTO/sick time even if I want to take a trip somewhere. For example tonight is my last shift of 6 and in the morning i'm headed down to Greenville, Tennesee from Watersmeet, Michigan for a week and didn't have to take any time off to do so. We accrue pretty decent PTO/Sick time as well, over 8 hours per pay period and even more if we work OT and it has added up quickly. I'll be able to take a month off work in late September/October to hunt and only use 9-10 days of PTO which I already have that saved up.

You should get paid for the full length of your shift seeing as you worked from x to y (say 20:00-08:00) and that would be 12 hours of work.

My wife's sister lives in Eagle River. We love spending a few weekends a year up there:thumbsup: I hear ya about the deer hunting.:( BIL still manages to get one every year, but it takes a lot of time sitting in the woods.

I love living up here. My wife teaches 2nd grade in Eagle River at the school. There's deer up here if ya know where to look for them. I deer hunt but it doesn't consume my life like bear hunting with the hounds does.

Sounds like you have a pretty good health system to work for. We accrue PTO at 6.77 per pay period, and it increases to 8.25 after five years. Only paid holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas, all other federal holidays are not covered and if you want off you use your PTO.

I work for Aspirus (Grandview hospital in Ironwood, MI). Aspirus is a big corporation in mid to northern Wisconsin and the western U.P. of Michigan. Our PTO accrual just significantly increased as it was included in our most recent contract negotiations. it was barely 5 hours per pay period accrued before the new contract.

We only have one person on per shift on holidays and weekends. Pay is X1.5 normal if you work. On holidays that you don't work It is your choice to use PTO or not. We accrue PTO at 7.something per pay period (bi-weekly)

Just got word this morning that they are increasing our shift diff. They wouldn't say how much. We learn more Thur.

Thank you and I'm glad it helped. I like it because it makes you think to look at things from a different view point.
