I want to set up a small AZ run, possibly with my work Tacoma bro and a jeep buddy. Maybe Casey if he’s free. What radios should we run?

 

last time i just used one their mobile radios since they were doing one the other ones i didnt have....

 

I want a small FRS radio for spotting and GMRS for Trail comm. is that dumb? Is there a better way?

 

depends how far apart you want to be from each other. if you guys are all going to be close range to each other, the radios from walmart or bass pro or w/e you got in the area will work. just make sure they are the same brand.

 

why not just use the same radio for both? i want to say we went FRS on that trip and the radios worked a good distance. until one the guys got a few miles ahead of us going downhill on some twisties.

 

I like the hand helds for getting out of the trucks to spot but was told they don’t have the range or battery life to be used on an all day run so I figured I’d need GMRS in the truck.

 

hmmm. id have to look that up. i know theres a thread on here for trail comms that talks about both. and as for battery life you got the car charger.

 

I'm putting in lots of hours, but all things considering I've never done less work and made as much money. That's what we all strive for right?

oh shit ok. thats right around the corner from my work then (atleast AF/SF side). i want to go back to the visitor center when i get back and check it out again. been there twice so far and enjoy it.

 

I’m getting paid to look up truck parts and Mustang parts.
