Yeah, the schedule itself isnt too much of a killer...it's the SWITCHING to and from graveyards that kills lol

Yep. Rotating shift work is not easy. It's the going from nights to days that sucks the most. :pccoffee:

Worked at one place where we rotated days/swings/mids every three months...
So just when you'd get used to it, you'd switch. :annoyed:

I had a job for a while where I was the “floater” that gave all the other shifts their days off.

Which meant I worked 2 days on mids(2200-0600), 2 days on swings(1400-2200) , and 2 days on days(0600-1400), then had 2 days off

6ish months of that damn near killed me. Never again lol.

I've worked 7 on, 7 off for 16 years now. Before that I worked nights for a month/ days for a month for 3 years. It's actually harder than it used to be. I guess age is catching up to me. I do convert back to days on my week off. I still get decent sleep, so it's not too bad. 5 more years to retirement!

Love my schedule even if it is hard at times. A week off every other week is great. Besides, if I had to work days I'd either be fired, quit, or in jail.
A really cool thing is the extra pay to work less days. I'd work 8hr days if on the day shift, so that would be 78 more days a year for less pay. Counting vacation, I work full time for 168 days a year. That leaves a lot of time to do things not work.

I’m on the 5 yr count down. I plan to retire the end of 2029. That will be 21 years of 7 on 7 off nights. I’m ready.

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
not sure but I’ll be on zombie mode tomorrow thru Monday night… 12s :woot:

We work a back and fourth based on 28 days.. I work 14 out of the 28 days, 7 of which are night shift, 7 of them days.. all 12s 6:30-6:30 day or night.. kinda cool though I get 7 consecutive days off each month as a result, but the back and fourth can be taxing

I do miss this thread. I retired, so not a lot interest in chiming in.

Yeah the switching back and forth is worse for your health than if you work straight nights, which isn’t very good for you either. I’ve been on nights for the last 15 years more than not!
