Not all industrial machinery starts up and shuts down like a car. some equipment takes 6 -8 hours just to get it in high vacuum and high heat, so the equipment can be used.

Co-Gens on our area will shut down for maintenance, we have to wait at least 24-36 hours for it to cool down before we go inside the boiler for maintenance. Then even the start up requires time, slowly opening valves and the like.

Our lineman do pretty well themselves. They're lineup of personal trucks they drive is impressive. You don't need to go to lineman school to get on the the companies here. They have an apprenticeship program that takes 4 years or something.

Yeah it's been in the back of my mind lately for doing a career switch and being a lineman. Apprentice pay sucks, but they get OT and there's the journeyman pay waiting for you when you make it through. Plus all the lineman seem like one big family from what I've seen

There's free kureigs around and I never paid attention to what's in the office, but it's something generic. Still hate the taste. I can stomach espresso shots and chase it with chocolate syrup tho. Haha

Thanks. At times it'll be tough when Outages happen and you're on call, but lineman are good people and the pay/usual 7-3:30 m-f hours aren't bad.
