Why, 'cause gingers burn real easy?
Polarized sunglasses would be my next, must have purchase if I was going to be permanently on the day shift.

Maybe not, on second thought. If you have never used polarized sunglasses, don't buy them. Once you get your first pair of decent sunglasses, you will never be happy with non polarized, cheap sunglasses.

I'll be honest... first two night shifts kicked my ass. I have a few days off and then I'm gonna do three 12hr shifts in a row starting Saturday night. I need to get used to this lol

I have some old school polarized oakleys. They're heaven. Haha

And yes. My ginger ass burns real easy. When I was 20 my dermatologist told me if I got one more bad sunburn in my life I was guraranteed to get some form of skin cancer by the time I die. Ive had like 4 or 5 since then. Haha.

Is this your 1st experience with the night shift?

Funny story: About 10 years ago, we had a guy start work here. He had never worked shift work before.
He worked his 1st, 2 weeks of the day shift, then we get shifted to the night shift for the next 2 weeks. Wash, rinse, repeat.

This guy worked his Saturday, Sunday but was nowhere to be seen on Monday night. We found out later he walked up to HR that Monday morning and quit right then and there.

We get paid pretty good, so we were very surprised he gave up the money and benefits. Shift work is just not for some people.

My wife refers to it as an abusive relationship with the Sun. It treats her badly but she still loves it and comes back for more

First shift and first full time job period!! I'm a nurse. Truth be told, from what I saw during school having to do clinicals during the day, night shift is a whole lot less work and with the shift diff, it's well worth it to me. Day shift you have to deal with soooo much stuff but night shift it's really chill and honestly a fun time

That was quick haha. At least it was quick rather than all trained up and settled in and then dropped out, but sucks either way. It does take special people for shiftwork. Some more special than others :D

Based off googling night shift memes, which makes me an expert:rofl::anonymous:, half of them are about night shift nurses and the woes of it haha.

Oh yeah, nursing memes definitely capture the essence of the profession... It really all depends on where you work. Nursing is so broad that the experience of one floor is not going to be like the other, which is why I love the profession... If you get bored doing one thing you can go do something else haha

Oh for sure. I was just laughing at how many of them pop up when I do blanket searches. Variety is the key to keep you sane, at least for me anyway.

There is still a need for someone to cover here on Sunday for the other Nights Shift. They work Saturday so it's one day off, then cover, then 1 day off. Just have to stay on a full blown Night Schedule for that stretch. But I can be an OT whore depending on list of Taco mods coming up so I may take it

I've been wanting to try autox with my Solstice, sounds like a blast. Just no way I can go all day Sunday then come in and do Sunday night. Might be able to pull it off with some help from PTO.:notsure:

Yep, I usually get one sunburn a year. No cancer, yet. Pretty much guaranteed at some point down the road. Hope not but...

I splurged and bought 2 pairs of Oakleys on US standard issue many years ago that are not made anymore. I havent been able to find a pair that fits as well as they do so in the rare occasion I see them on eBay, I have to snatch them up and order replacement lenses on Amazon.

Yea they went to complete shit when Luxottica forced them into bankruptcy. Very hard to find good stuff these days. There's a brand. Miami something that is still decent american made sunglasses not owned by Luxottica.

T-minus 56 minutes til my weekend. Probation Officer test Saturday morning at the Convention Center in Boston. I have to weigh my options when/if they arise to take a fairly significant pay cut to go to M-F 830-430 with more potential opportunity.

If the longterm outweighs the shorterm woes it's always a better choice.
