I was a mechanic on the first MD-11 during its flight test program back in 1990. Never forget the good times working on the top of the vertical tail in 40mph winds and 20 degrees outside at KEDW. No stand just a 60 foot JLG cherry picker where we had to stand on top of the basket rails to get to our work. We had a flight test airspeed boom coming out of the top of the vertical that had to be changed out. I don't miss those days.

It is a little cold and breezy there tonight.

The mice are falling and we may have captured their flag in the overnight battle. The enemy has suffered fatalities over the last 36 hours.

It's breezy and made worse by the wake off all the heavies. I swear it gust to 40 knots right here off the approach end.

Yea, we have tail stands and use the patio but, nothing structured or not on wheels above the patio unless you're in heavy check. So it's JLGs for us too. It's okay but, I'm NOT a fan of cold and it feels cold here to me. Can't wait for summer!

Official wind chill of 18F w/ 17mph winds, add 40 knot gusts out in the open on an airfield ... IS COLD.

Hate to tell you, but it's gonna get worse for you; rain Sat night turning to snow Sunday and single digit lows, highs teens & 20s for Mon and Tue. How many more shifts before your break?

I'm here Saturday and Sunday nights but, my employer is pretty good about how they schedule you. So, being outside tonight, unless shit goes to hell, I'll be inside tomorrow. And since Sunday is my "Friday", again unless shit goes to hell, I won't be assigned.

Here, the worst day of the work week is your "Monday" and each day after gets better...most of the time. That is unless you're on time and half or double time.
