So, what do you all do? If that question is annoying, or if you don't feel like answering. Feel free to ignore me.

I work at a cement plant. I'm not on nights all the time, just 7 days each rotation. I like them, the radio is quiet at night, for then most part. And there isn't so many big wigs running around telling everyone "how to do their job".

I have to go get geared up and play with fire for an hour or two, I will be back.

I'm a front-line IT technician for a semiconductor manufacturing outfit here.

 

What up all, I'm new here. Not new to working graves though... sadly.
I'm on night 4 of 9. Airline mechanic

 

Same as above, except I run the utilities end...air compressors, boilers, cooling towers, yada, yada, yada.

 

On my 3rd night shift out of 5 (12's) here. I'm in manufacturing.....fiberglass. As you can see I'm doing a great job at it while here on TW.

 

People are dumb. Gas stations all day were backed into streets and highways... No shortage of gas(well now there is...) just shortage of intelligence. Gas went from 2.09 at 5pm last night to 2.90 and no gas anywhere between work and home (9 stations) in 6 hours. everyone has bags on pumps and lights off.

Between the 3 vehicles we have, I'll be fine riding it out for awhile.

Just ran home to let dogs out real quick and saw one group of people at a gas station shaking hoses into jugs, just hoping for a few drops.

They had actually disconnected hoses and we're holding them up in teams... Saw a cop headed that way with lights on as I drove by.

Anyway... Relatively busy here, passing time anyway.

Gas jumped here, looks like I'll be driving the RAV4.

 

Sweet - party favors! I'll take a bag of whatever will kill 4 hours the fastest.

Sorry about that gas though, it jumped about a dime last night here.

 

Gas jumped up 40 cents here. I guess that all has to do with Harvey.

 

so here's a projection map for 9/9 for Irma... If it comes into the gulf... And there's another cell supposed to be behind it too

 

So how bad's this one supposed to be?

 

Currently just hit Cat 3, supposed to be a 4 when it hits Caribbean (Tuesday possibly), after that lots of factors

 

I was just reading up on it a bit, looks like it's gonna turn into a real mother at some point.

HOPEFULLY this one fizzles out before it gets too close to the US; Texas couldn't handle another hit, and then on the other hand I have relatives in FL that would have some difficulty dealing with a large storm like Irma might just be. They're well prepared as long-time Florida residents, but they're getting on in years and I do worry about them when the big storms hit.

If it's too big, maybe we'll have them out for Thanksgiving a little early this year...

 

agreed. Could possibly hit the Carolinas too. Lots of different models still on where it'll go. Gonna be bad for someone though. Hurricane season is going out with an unfortunate bang this year.
