took my spindles to an independent shop to have my old UBJ's pressed out and had new OEM ones pressed in. When I got the spindles and old parts back in a box I noticed the supplied packages of grease were still partially full, or were. They were smeared all over the inside of the box and on the old parts. This makes me think they didn't put much if any grease in the boot.

My solution is to take a syringe and fill it with the grease and pump it into the boot. My question is what type of grease should I use? They might have put a little of the supplied stuff in so comparability is a concern.

I'd go back but it was a "$60,no receipt" deal so they might even deny they did the work. Who knows, but I'd rather handle it myself.

    Thanks.

They make a needle tbat goes onto the end of a grease gun just for this occurrence. Theyre super cheap.

As odd as it sounds, the little packet of lube supplied with an OEM upper joint kit is intended to lube the upper "lip" of the boot where it contacts and rotates against the upper control arm. This only requires a small "smear" and one packet would likely do 10 boots. The joint itself is pre-lubed with all the lube it will ever need.

Not doubting you at all since you know more than I on these topics but the instructions said to fill the boot with one of the supplies bags of grease.

Fine, then go for it. Of the dozen or so I have done the instructions specifically said to apply lube to the upper lip of the boot. I haven't bought any for a few years so they might have changed it.
