I think you are confusing this thread with one about uniballs, this thread is called "greasing lr uca zerk" lr being light racing non uniball ucas

And getting uniball uppers would render this thread useless while at the same time giving the op less to worry about. No more wondering how many pumps to fill a boot with grease

Got a response from SPC's tech support, here is a link for the greases they recommend. I used Super-Lube over the weekend and it was about 5 pumps per side.

I ended up using a multi purpose lithium grease, what i had around loaded nto my grease gun same as for my driveshaft. 6 pumps and could feel the boot filling... might buy a dedicated gun for moly grease. After all I'm hoping the LR UCAs last for a long long time...,

Probably going to get a name brand, one step up from super cheapo as those sometimes stick on the fittings/leak, keep it as a standalone for my UCAs, seems inexpensive insurance <20$ for upkeep of a part that cost 400$+

What if grease comes out the boot? I was under the impression it would come out of the zerk

Too much grease and it'll cause the boot to pop off the balljoint. Ask me how I know.

Yes. I noticed it pretty quickly and slid it back on without issue.

Did I over-grease mine or is there something seriously wrong here? I put 5-7 pumps every ~6000 miles (have maybe 25k miles on these UCAs). Just noticed this the other day - grease had oozed out near the zerk and below the boot. Makes me think I've just put too much in. Everything seems to be functioning properly...

EDIT: just saw the posts above about grease coming out the bottom...

Mine do the same thing, have been for the past year and a half that I've had them on. I used to worry about it but the old grease has to go somewhere. I just make sure to clean it up whenever I add a couple more pumps every few thousand miles.

Edit: mine only have grease coming out of the bottom of the boot, not the top of the zerk...that's a little odd, probably way too much grease in there.

Cool thanks for the reply. I did notice a few months ago that one of the zerks was loose. Tightened it of course, but could be why it leaked out the zerk

Because you didn't have the zirk fitting, that's attached to the grease gun hose, on the zirk properly. I've greased a metric F ton of zirks and it'll do that if it's not on properly. It's pretty much a one way ball valve that doesn't allow grease to push back out if too full. It'll come out of the boot if it gets too full, which you don't want, either. 5-10 pumps with Moly each oil change. Very, very simple.

This has nothing to do with the actual greasing of the zerk... the hose fitting fits fine. When I finished greasing everything was fine - no grease leaking. It was about 1000 mi after the greasing that I noticed this leak... I agree that oil should not come out of the zerk tip, but the actual threads of the zerk itself may be loose, as I had previously observed.

That makes sense. It wasn't explained that way earlier. Hopefully that post will help others. Thanks.

Are we taking about the same as greasing my jba ucas? Had them put on yesterday, I drove it minimal today to test function of everything, its way out of line. Im set for alignment Saturday, installer said he greased the actual face of the bushings but didn't have any lithium grease for the gun so didnt hit the fittings. I think we have some and a gun at work so I'll hit all the ball joint and bushing fittings tomorrow.

I hope the ball joint was greased after install? You don't want to drive it with the ball joints dry. I think the JBAs have the same zerk fitting for the ball joint as the SPCs do
