I just ordered a new set of UCAs and I've got an extra tube of redline cv-2 grease with red moly that I think will work in the ball joints. I had planned to use some of the Superlube grease I use in my u-joints but I don't see any moly in it.

Did this break off or just simply come off because it was loose? Trying to screw it back on and it isn't catching. I'm thinking it snapped. Greasing the joints today and it popped off when I was removing the gun. They came out way easier than the normal pressure to remove the gun.

If this is broken off, will the grease stay in the uca or is it messed up and grease gonna spew out.

It's broken off, you need to get the rest of it out before you can screw a new one in.

I guess you may have over torqued it or maybe it was defective, like had a crack or weak, from the manufacturer.

Grease is going to make a mess as it's pushed back out.

They snapped off when pulling the grease gun off? If so then my guess is they were over-torqued when they were assembled, if I remember correctly the zerk fitting came assembled on the ball joint from SPC so it must have happened during production. That sucks, zerk fittings are easy to replace but since that one snapped off you'll have to find a way to get the rest of it out.

From my limited experience lots of zerks are poorly made and weak. Can't recommend a brand though.

I just installed mine a few months ago and they were indeed presassembled. Only hooked up a grease gun twice so far but that's scary to think they could snap off

These are only about two years old. I'm pretty pissed right now. Pulled straight up on these like I do with other zerks. I wonder if @HeadStrong Off-Road has ever had complaints like this

Yep just broke right off. Now to brainstorm. Indeed grease is coming out after taking it around the block

quick update... i went to SPC website and they have a huge phone number on the top. called it and had zero wait time. was immediately transferred to a tech and he helped me out. highly impressed by their customer service

he says a small easy out tool such as the one in the photo below should be able to get it out.

    Capture.jpg

if it works, i can replace the zerk fitting with another that is 1/4 x 28 straight. problem solved. if i cant get the broken fitting out to call them back and they'll honor the limited lifetime warranty. he also informed me that there were two batches a few years back that had weak zerk fittings and they spent a lot of time replacing thousands of them by hand, but they couldn't get all of them and he thinks i have one of the bad ones. that issue has since been resolved.

    i'll update you guys later!
