moving to Lima Peru in approx 2 months. taking the truck with me -- rough conditions (see below). Ill report back how the truck stacks up.

    1. Poor quality gas
    2. poor quality roads out in the provinces (pot-hole infested)
    3. lots of road hazards.
    4. very high altitude passes (14k + feet)
    5. lots of dust, sand and mud

I plan on taking up to over 150K miles. has 40K on the odometer right now.

    thanks for all the welcomes

Yes -- I know it will. the only thing that will be harsh is the lousy gas. at least that is what ive been told.

Welcome to TW... also I'm sure it'll stack up fine as well... but like you said the gas would be my primary concern. Maybe you could stock up on some octane booster to help it burn a little cleaner, and just pull in the injector cleans to make sure it's not getting gunked up...

i just have to figure out what if anything everyone down there does. Ive gassed up with subpar gas over here and have had some issues which promptly went away with the next tank of gas. I am not too worried about that.

it cant be that bad -- there are millions of cars down there running fine. might need to stock up on fuel filters. I think that is where the issue is and not so much that the gas wont burn properly. I had a fuel filter get plugged up on me once out in the boonies and -- so there I was with nowhere to go. What a PIA.
