    Thanks for the replies.
At this point, I think they will porbably total it.
The airbags did not go off but the cost of parts/labor will likely be high enough.

I am not concerned with the salvaged title. I planned on having it around for the long haul anyways.
My primary concern now is the value State Farm gives me and how quickly I can get everything taken care of.

This is funny. I just looked at your location and did a Google Maps search for the location of Stewart County.

My company just sent me down this way. I get to spend the next week and a half in Clarksville.

I hope you take the time to rebuild the girl. Those parts are pretty easy to change. Price is pretty good as well. I'm presently rebuilding an '04 TRD Xcab, so I know what kind of work will be involved. Getting the core support removed will be the hardest part. Toyota used way more spot welds than were needed.

I paid $90 thru Amazon for my core support. Rebuilding wrecks is fun to me.

Well, avoid the intersection of Hwy 79 and The Trace. Seems there's been plenty of multi vehicle accidents there.

If totaled, I will be rebuilding if possible. Yes, that radiator support should be he toughest part. Hell, I might take the opportunity to build it up and get some armor.

Truck is coming home to Nashville today. Hopefully will know something by the end of the week.

Is State Farm your ins. or theirs? I would go through my insurance and let them deal with the other company. You might get a better outcome because your insurance knows they'll get their money back. Not sure if that's how it works, but it has worked for me in the past.

I am as well and have always been pleased with their auto insurance. We also have our house, term life, ID theft protection, and a umbrella with them and get a huge discount on the house
Maybe that's why they always treated me well.
I think your truck is salvageable. Look on the bright side, she saved you and your passengers and the Armada is definitely toast! Good luck!

Isn't Tennessee a "fault" state? Could make it interesting waiting to see who gets to pay.

That's why you run it through your insurance and get it fixed, then let them subrogate the claim to the at-fault company.

I chose State Farm specifically because they use NADA retail value. When my truck got wrecked, I went out of my way to run it through my own insurance so I would get that value, then let them pursue payment from the other driver's company.

Best of luck to the OP in getting that truck fixed.

    UPDATE:

The Nissan drivers insurance has been in touch with me. Thought that was unusual. The adjuster called asking for pics and an estimate. (thought they would go through State Farm for that stuff....)
I called the shop its at for an update.........well, its high.
$9k is what I was quoted.

Ive got my eye on a new truck. Same year, dbl cab, 50k less miles, and 4wd.
If I can get the market value for my truck and a check asap, I think I will be stepping into the new one instead of fixing.
I crunched some numbers last night and for it to be worth it to me, I would need my truck +$9k. I think I could fix the truck for $4500-5000....6k on the high side. But with that comes the time it takes to do the work and sourcing cheaper parts. The truck Im looking at already has everything I want done to it. Only issue is Im not crazy about the color and would need a new bumper (Apex is coming).

Hoping I dont get dicked around with collecting a check.....

You can run the claim through your insurance if you prefer - just tell the other company that you have already initiated a claim with your insurance and it will be subrogated to them. Then file a claim with your insurance.

With their insurance, you never know what you will get. With State Farm, you'll get NADA retail value - which you can look up at NADA.com.

Good luck getting it sorted out and getting back on the road, no matter what you decide. Accidents suck.

    you can fix that bro..
IMO this is a perfect truck to do a SAS on.

Ive been in about 6x accidents in my truck. just replaced the core support by myself about 6mnths ago. Let me know if you have any questions. It wasn't necessarily hard.. it was just kind of tedious trying to get everything to fit back how it was.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just let it run its course through State Farm.
I was thinking this guys insurance seems like a local company so they'll try to get out on the cheap. I've already filed a claim through SF.
Do you know if they cut me the check and collect from the other insurer?

I know it's fixable, problem is that I don't have the time or another vehicle in the meantime. If it could be done in a (long) weekend, I would love to get it back to what it was.....plus a plate bumper and some other goodies.

Also, I agree its perfect for the SAS, but Im not really into that. Just need the truck to handle some mild trails for camping and hauling my canoe and kayak.

Hell, if someone is serious about buying it, shoot me a message. I have yet to speak with State Farm regarding value and/or a buy back option. I wouldn't mind to buy back for someone so long as I can get the truck Im after.

The other insurance co. should be providing alternate transportation (rental/loaner) til you get your truck fixed.

Yes - that's how State Farm handled my claim for my accident back in January. They paid me a check (minus the salvage buyback cost, which was very reasonable), and they collected from the other insurance company. You will have to pay your deductible with State Farm, but you should get that money back from the other insurance company when they eventually pay the claim.

I'm a bit confused why this would be unusual? I'm not 100% sure the OP knows exactly how insurance works.
Also, can't figure out why you would ever file a claim through your own insurance to try to pursue money for you. How would that ever work out in your favor? Why would your insurance company give a shit how much money you get in a settlement? They literally have zero motivation to fight for you.

OK here's how getting your vehicle totaled works. I was rear ended twice within 12 months. I negotiated hard as fuck and got WAAAAAY over market value for both of my vehicles. YOU negotiate personally with the at fault's insurance company. Don't let anyone else do it for you. I hired a lawyer for both cases to fight for my "pain and suffering" settlement, but firmly demanded to do my own negotiations in terms of property damage.

Both times, my insurance company was not at all involved...because why would they be...? It's none of their business.

The first time, in 2011, I was rear ended at a red light in my 1990 Volvo 240 wagon. I literally got the car for free, with a market value of probably $1200. I negotiated hard and got a check for $2600. The buy back was $175, but I let them scrap it.
The second time, I was rear ended on my 1987 Kawasaki Ninja by a street racer. Again at a red light. It was a gorgeous bike. I bought it for $950. State Farm got back to me with the "$1300 NADA value". I said "no thanks." Again, I negotiated hard as fuck "the bike has a lot of high dollar parts, etc etc, really some fucking bullshit that some street racer wants to drive irresponsibly and I have to take a loss, etc etc. I bought it for $1800 2 month ago!! This is total bullshit."
The woman in the loss department said "yeah...you're right. That's kinda fucked. Here's a check for $2850 and the scrap price is $300, so it's $2550 after you buy back your bike."
I bought the bike back and bought the parts it needed.

So pretty much let the At Fault's company do their investigation/examination or whatever. They will total it of course, because 10+ year old truck. and you do/say anything you can/have to to jack up the value
"this is really a huge inconvenience"
"the truck is really irreplaceable for the money you're trying to give me"
"these trucks don't sell for 'NADA value'"
feel free to lie or embellish about how much you bought it for or upgraded parts. I can almost guarantee they won't check. With purchase price, they can't really check. The insurance company will do ANYTHING they can to pay out as little as possible, because that's their one and only purpose.

Use as much leverage as you can. Don't let them hang onto your car. They can't have it unless they've paid for it.
After you negotiate, make your choice. Let them auction it off, or buy it back. The insurance company doesn't give a shit that it's a Tacoma. They call local scrap yards to see how much the yard will pay for the vehicle. then you have to match that number. Ins companies don't hang on to or fix up anything. They liquidate everything.
If you decide to buy it back, be prepared to deal with a salvage title/certificate. It might be more of a headache than it's worth.

Im glad all of that worked for you....but I handle things differently.
I just want a reasonable price for my truck. I don't want to lie about what was on it to get more from the deal nor do I need to hire a lawyer to settle this for me. I pay State Farm every year to take care of that shit for me when/if something like this happens. Im not looking to take advantage of the system...or negotiate "hard as fuck to get WAAAAAY over market value". I just want enough to replace my truck for something comparable.

This isn't to say Im gonna take what they offer without looking over everything. I was given a dollar amount today and there were some discrepancies with their options list. It wasn't far off from what I expected, but I will address this with them.
