Also put the truck on the rack at a friends shop. The whole box twisted. Right side has a slight wtinkle to it. Left rear and right front mounts are ripped. He said those composite boxrs do that. He did say they hold up better than fords aluminum boxes. That was funny cause he has been a ford fan since i knew hom in hs.

It would save allot of trouble in the long run. Especially since HH6 would kill me immediately.

If you flat bed, would you cycle your bed like you do for your front bumper or would it stay permanent?

I hadn't thought about that, but I'd pretty much have to if I wanted to survive the experience.

I wonder how hard that would be to do? I'd need a stronger lift to pick up the flatbed set up.

Hope you got a solid pulley system for it. Im sure installing reinforced eyelets could be the way to go...but after it is raised what do you do with it? I would be afraid to have something of that weight suspended long term with things under it unless you had some sort of safety support...but could be the engineer in me talking at this point.

There's two issues: 1 is the rigging safety aspect, but that's not too hard to solve. 2 is the switch from flatbed to regular mode. That's going to require having both beds off the truck at the same time, and then putting one back on. Right now I only have 1 lift.

I suppose a dolly set up to wheel one around on will solve both problems....

Exactly my point...that's a lot of real estate to have to deal with when storing one or the other. TBH, Im surprised you havnt gotten burnt out on the stock swap process. Man I have never once cared about the appearance of my truck besides that it looks in relatively clean order and can safely get to a job site. If anything, its a great conversation starter...but hey man Im in the design world where deliverables are the only thing we really care about.

    Happy wife, happy life.

I'd leave it offroad style all the time otherwise. I do like taking the tent off, because it doesn't need the abuse of being out in the weather all the time.

The ultimate solution is to go flatbed/full cage, get a DD, and just park the whole damn thing out of sight...

Yea Im confused too...its the wife that gets offended with the off-road style of the truck? My girl always likes driving my truck cause of the attention it gets and likes the look of it over stock by a long shot. I do agree with the tent as it can bake the cover up pretty fast.

What does she not like about the armor and stuff? Had an idea that work wouldn't really be bashing you that much over the appearance of your POV.

Yes, she's not a fan of the "mad max" after market look. Cars are something that get you from point a to point b, not an item of interest for her. Which is fine, because it give us some diversity of interest. Ask me about crafting :)

Work, it depends. Down in VA no one looks sideways when you get out of a muddy expo truck in a suite. Up here, people definitely get weird about it.

The other issue is talking to Johnny Law, the more the truck looks like a normal tacoma the less likely I am to talk with a dickhead who wants to measure fender clearances to tread surface or debate the finer points of mud-flap requirements as a pretext for a vehicle search.

 Discuss crafting! Popsicle sticks should only be used to hold frozen treats.

    And go!

I guess Jersey is different although I think they are bigger on the urban stuff so I could see the disconnect. At the same time, my roommate was from jersey and man I have seen some of the shittiest "IDGAF" types with their vehicles there. Im sure if you are driving a client, it might be appreciative to have a vehicle where the interior is clean so folks don't feel like they are risking their suits just to commute to the function. I do see your point with the law as when I would visit jersey...man you could roll about 40 over as the average speed was 25 over and cops only pulled guys for tint and other dumb shit. That said though, a lot of jersey people naturally push their boundaries with stuff.

Im surprised your wife is offended though although its her right to whatever...most women either appreciate it or have no care what the vehicle is like. I guess she wants that "prim and proper" family look? Not trying to be offensive, just an intriguing situation I guess.

No offense taken. I really don't get it either, partially it's the proper look, partially it's that she doesn't think "race truck parts, race truck noises" is funny, and partially she's just not into the lifestyle. Fucked if I know. On the list of women issues I could have, this is one I can live with very easily.

And it's an excuse to do things differently than everyone else.
