Oregon is pretty cool. Rainy and cold in the winter, but still nice to get away. Still deciding if I want to move there

Yea! Got to see the beach, the mountains, the country, and a little of the city.

Next goal is to drive out there, so I don't need to deal with airports

I loved Oregon while I was out there (total of 2 months last year for work). Got to see all the major seasons and it was absolutely amazing. Being able to go snowboarding then to the beach in the same day was great. Hood River was where I stayed, pricey area to live but there are plenty of cheaper places. I didn't spend anytime in Portland, I can't stand major cities anymore (Boston included).

Edit - Also it's one of the few places that I enjoyed enough to say I would move to, although I still haven't been to Colorado or Alaska yet...

I flew into Portland, but stayed in Silverton. An hour south, and a drive through the country. I don't want to live in the city, but also not an hour away

A friend of mine moved to Bend, OR a few years ago. I have visited him a few times in that time span. I would move there in a heartbeat if the right opportunity arose. Unfortunately for me I am extremely risk averse and pretty tied down to my current location.

I would like to go there when I drive.

I need some change in my life. Im tired of the east coast. Its so populated and boring here.

Im working on opportunities. Have one possibility that Im considering taking, but on paper its not a smart move.

I wouldn't call it boring but population wise, not only is it denser, it is a completely different population as well.

What makes it not a smart move? Money? Do what makes you happy.

Ive lived here for 31 years. Only place ive lived. I want to go somewhere else. Anywhere.

There is just more and more people and less stuff to do. Im bored of it.

    Less money, less security..

    We're not jumping into anything..

But im looking at houses

Im starting to save $$$ for gas to drive there in the summer. $50/week sounds good for now.

2900 miles > 200 miles to a tank of gas > ~$42 for 1 tank of gas = $725 for gas, x2 to get back.

Yes. Gotta make the tent purchase worth it. Especially if I might sell it in a year
