i always felt like the u bolt debate made more sense for spring under axle

maybe if you are really jumping the piss out of it on the daily...

like real air time, not just rail road tracks around town

I think less than in chi-town. Will reassess. This is the most recent picture of the rear. I am planning on buying some por-15 to touch up some places on my frame/axle

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I like my archive rear bumps and ubolt flip. Ive heard from many people that Ubolts do stretch over time, and if you are gonna spend the money on new bumps, might as well buy new ubolts if they have been on the truck for 2-3 years.

    Cheap insurance in my opinion.

I think they have been here for a few years. I still am going to try reusing of them. If it doesn't work out, ill get some new ones.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the FSM, which annotates a non-reusable part with a black dot next to it. See "bush" for example. No mention of the U bolts being one-time use here or in the disassembly/reassembly instructions.

But why is it such a 50/50 (maybe less maybe more) split of opinion they are a one time use? Odd.

Probably because some u bolts can't be reused in certain applications. I have yet to see any manufacturer of tacoma u bolt flips say to not reuse it though, and daddy Toyota says you can reuse the factory ones, so I'm gonna just keep reusing them.

On that topic, Toyota put in New U-bolts when they were replacing my tsb leaf pack.

I've made a mistake of cutting my grade 8 U bolts too short after getting my medium Dakars installed, so when I was converting them to HD, I had to get new ones. I remember I got in through @blackout14 from "local" spring shop. Can't really recommend those, unless ya'll like to see more rust...

Anyways, looks like Dakars are a rite of passage for most of Northeast TW, and when all else fails to stop in from fucking squeaking, it's Deaver time!

I'm using my old Timbrens, which I reinstalled after breaking one of the Durobumps that I used to have.
I miss Durobumps with their progressive rate rubber! Miss them enough to order a whole new set for when I'm going to install Deavers.

No? Either wheelers or timbrens changed the kind of rubber that they used in the bump stops., so I'm wondering if they're going to be similar to Durobumps

If they work anything like the timbrens I have now, then I don't blame you at all.

Like I said, I like Durobumps. They come in different lengths to accommodate lift/travel, and the progressive nature of the rubber compound used, makes a whole lot of difference ( other companies started using similar material as well). Unfortunately their universal mount requires fiddling in order to fit onto wheelers flip plate.
