I'm familiar with them. I'm an Aerospace Engineer. That's what I did before getting into designing truck parts. But you're comparing expensive metals used in aircraft engines that are subject to extreme temperatures and huge forces to metal required to slide on a rock. Also, those metals have higher tensile strength, particularly at high temperatures, but neither of those things is important in the design of truck armor. We care about modulus of elasticity because primarily we are trying to limit deflection. Higher tensile strength doesn't help with that.

Yes that's what I said about the metals. I guess I'm just so used to having it available to me.

Thanks for explaining it to make sense to me @jowybyo. I'm used to how and what I get to work with too much. I'm new at the whole truck parts thing...never rebuilt a truck before.

There ar some huge breaks in shipping cost if you have a good corporate account. I rather suspect most off-road companies don't qualify.

I used to have access to a fortune 500 FedEx account, sent a swaybar overnight from SC to Philly for 10$.

If you can get material at good rates, and don't have to pay salary or amortization on the machines.

Ty @Arcticelf I see where my lack of knowledge is now in these truck parts. But I'm still never going to pay 600$+ for a 800$ bumper, and I don't know anyone in thier right mind that would.

Ha! We do some work for you guys...I don't think it's a good idea to post where I work on here though...it could turn ugly, especially if they find out I'm making parts for others.:rofl:They know I bust my ass for them and I believe that's why I get to use all there stuff!

Upper management is having trouble figuring out who is getting parts first, it's awesome.
