I think I remember this convo, maybe. I said it's not worth it if you have a perfectly functioning t-case. Just make the swap if you break your current one.

Another thing to think about is you'll have to keep the electronics happy, aka the ADD as well as your rear locker, unless you do that locker anytime mod. But that could potentially be tricky getting it all to play nice together. I don't know though, haven't looked too far into it.

Kept ADD. I don't have the 4WD ECU so I just hardwired the actuator to a DPDT switch. Flip the switch and the motor spin, no fucking with the computer to decide if it's met 50 parameters before engaging.

So you can leave the ADD disengaged and go into "4 lo" and really it's 2 lo, right?

I'd just hardwire the ADD and the locker. Also, I believe the locker would still work fine with an FJ tcase as long as you wire up the indicator switches the same as the stock ones (I think they are plug and play).

Yes, kinda. You still need to cut a hole in the floor for the stick.

I sold my stock t-case for more than the FJ case I replaced it with (and the FJ t-case had fewer miles). Just have to be patient and creative when money is tight.

That's a great idea, but I'm actually going to wait now until I break mine.
Mine is new and it never occurred to me to do the swap when I broke it the first time.
And it should give me plenty of time to save for it:thumbsup:

@jowybyo is this hard to do yourself?
I can handle most everything myself as long as I have good instructions to do so.

Easy. It is a direct bolt on other than making a hole in the floor for the shifter.
