so i noticed under my 2019 OR 4x4 a green wire running from the drivers side rear wheel to the rear diff. Seems like it might would snag on a branch or something while offroad.

    any thoughts/experiences?

i frequently go to 10 acres i own at the top of a mountain where the road is gravel/steep/not used a lot and there could be branches from trees above on the road. Never had issues with my 4x4 patriot, xterra or crv but then again they don't have a wire running sort of exposed like the taco does.

just wondering if a small branch could get in there and pull the wire easily...

Those are for wheel speed sensors.
Your locker wires are fed from a wiring harness above the differential.

Ok, so now let’s put our coloring books and crayons away friends and put on our problem solving hats to help Mr OP with his sticks and branches problem...

Sorry- that color changing wire thing was just too funny... I ended up putting covers on my speed sensors and was thinking of putting a sheath of some sort over my wires, more so to protect them from gnawing hares and rodents, but it would help to protect them from sticks and rocks as well.

Need to add link.. will edit soon.

It's green/black on the passenger and pink or white/black on the driver side.

on my 2019 OR trd 4x4 automatic-

the passenger side wheel speed sensor is blue/black.
    the drivers side is pink/black.

i could have sworn i saw the drivers side as green black! sometimes dyes can change colors based on heat/moisture etc. i am just trying to confirm if that happened and if it's normal or perhaps i just am misremembering what i saw and am basing the green wire off what i saw on a review of a 2019 tacoma- that i am trying to find again or a 2016- that i attached a pic of.

I think you're recollection is off.
    I have a 2016...mine is white/black on the driver's side and green/black on the passenger's side.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmxhVNabrD0 13:31 shows a pink wire on drivers side. that's what i have on my 2019. Your 2016 probably has a different color than mine does. So i suppose i didn't see green on my truck but rather pink. LOL..... Anyhow, i will look at a brand new one someday to see if it's pink or green. Just curious.

I thought this thread was about protecting wires? Or is the color of said wires more important? Good thing electricity is color blind...
