Sunuva... I just got the import taxes from FedEx for my greenlane sliders that showed up a couple weeks ago. I guess car parts aren't included in NAFTA.

I don't know how it works in the US but whenever I'm charged duty on NAFTA products imported to Canada I can just submit it to the feds and get the money back.

Unless you're actually talking "taxes" and not duty.

It was customs related, but I'm genuinely not sure. I did a quick search of the terms on the forms on this site then on a general Google. So many results were about importing to Canada, I didn't have time to sift through.

Christmas Eve, kids up my butt, I said screw it and sent the check so I could move on.

Certainly interested in learning, some day it might be a significant amount of money

Ha...that's because it's pretty rare for an American to buy something online made in Canada. We buy US stuff all the time. They are brutal with charging for NAFTA products. Most of the time I need to apply for the refund. I'd rather import myself driving across the border but that's been impossible for a while.

Here we'd have to pay FedEx if they invoiced us regardless....then submit it for the government to refund us.

I was quite happy to see that Point Robert's in Washington is now available for Canadians to cross over and back with only proof of vaccination. No need for a negative test. Only makes sense because it is land locked to Canada. Now myself and others in the lower mainland can take advantage of free lower 48 state shipping again and have it sent to our favourite shipping mail box.

    Dang. You're fortunate.

I shipped some stuff to North Dakota when the border opened and you didn't need a test....then the rules changed before my packages arrived so they're stuck there for the time being.

Got the sliders installed. Fit and finish was perfect. And they really package them well, so it's safe to have them arrive powder coated. I expected a rougher finish for grip, but it's nice anyway.

I thought the install instructions left a lot to be desired. I did passenger first, and it was a breeze. Hell, instructions not required, because it's pretty much "line things up, put bolts through holes". On the driver side though, the instructions had any the same detail. I haven't even changed the oil yet, so the truck is all new to me. There's a bunch of stuff in the way on drivers side, and the order that you do certain things ends up being important. Trial and error got me there, but it sucked taking the slider back off twice.

I think I'm one bolt short on driver side and may leave it that way.

How does the skid plate compare in terms of coverage and size to the trd pro skid or the similar?

    Nice! Post some pics!

When they say “hybrid” what parts are aluminum and what parts are DOM or chromoly?

Also can you elaborate when you say order of installation matters on the driver side?

The whole thing is aluminum. I get the feeling it's more than substantial enough to save you from bad decisions, but not going to hold up if you're regularly riding them over obstacles, on purpose. It has to dent easier.

Seems they draw the line at using them for a high lift jack; they recommend not do that.

The order that got me was the bolts and nuts and brackets that are already a part of the truck. If you put all the provided hardware in place, and tighten it up per directions, the OEM stuff might not line up. There was no mention of bending brake lines, but I had to in a couple spots to keep the lines from rubbing stuff. I had to take the driver side off fully or partially at least 2 times for various things.

I doubt my install issues are unique to these sliders. I could have used a bit more info in them, however.

My Greenlane sliders have found themselves pinned on trees & stumps and have held up great. Like you said, if the purpose is to be regularly pinned up on rocks etc. they might not be for you but to have them for the odd hit here and there they’re excellent, especially for the weight savings.

I’ve had my Greenlane sliders since mid-October and I’m pretty happy with them.
Overall a positive experience dealing with them. The sales team was easy to deal with, lead time was spot on and packaging was stellar. Install was easy once I figured out that I needed to remove a couple more things than the instructions had stated.

Hint: start with the passenger side first, then you can copy where all the bolts go on the drivers side.

Are these the flat version, or with 12.5 degree angle? Not quite sure by the photos.

They’re the angled version. It’s hard to get a good pic of the angle.

Question for those of you that have the sliders - do they stick out far enough past the body that the outside edge doesn't get covered in mud from the front tires? My problem is we drive gravel roads every day and my wife is only 5ft tall so every time she gets out of the truck she has to basically jump out to try and avoid getting the back of her pants muddy. My thought here is that the slider will be wide enough that she can step on it then jump down without getting dirty - picture of what our truck always looks like for reference.

I can’t speak for how well the sliders will reduce mud spray but I can say that when we had the dump of snow over the holidays most of it had collected on the underside of my sliders. Based on that, I’m sure mud spray would be reduced as well.

I have the fully decked version so with the open version I’m willing to bet you’d have more mud spray. I have some afterthoughts on the decking as well. If I were to do it again, I’d still go angled but without the deck plates. My reasoning is if, and when stones manage their way to the top side of the slider, they’ll roll down into the rocker panel and could get stuck there denting and scratching the rocker panel. I know, mall crawler problems right?

I’m not sure how functional as a step the 0° would be, but I find my angled one to be quite close so I try to step out past them. If they’re muddy, you’ll get a muddy pant leg.

Thanks for the reply - that is a good view of the slider to see how much sticks out to rest your foot on.

Good feedback on both the rock collection and the photo of stepping out. I've been looking for a set of bars or sliders mostly to use as a step up/down. Makes sense to me to find a product that also can function as sliders for the occasional need. Would hate to open a door and crunch the bottom over a rock sitting on top of the slider though...

These look like a great solution overall for my needs...albeit a bit pricey.
