Hey guys! A few years ago I was in the market for a decent used truck. I had stuff i needed to haul, and a hobby that demanded more clearance than my Ford Exploder provided.

My bud had a 01 tacoma for years... he drove it hard... I mean real hard. I watched as time passed betting this old thing would kick the bucket while he took it on roads vehicles were not meant to travel. He raced around on pavement at high RPMs and basically beat the everlovin *&*%# out of this poor rig (including rolling it twice). Thing just wouldnt die....

I was so impressed (and still am) by his Tacoma that no other truck would do, so I started my search. I looked at about 10 before I found the one. I did research and found the biggie recall had already been taken care of - you know the one :). The body was in great shape and the engine was pretty clean with a few parts here and there replaced. Of course, when you buy older, you must expect some problems sooner or later. Ive had mine on the road 4 years without missing a beat, just doing basic maintenance (and not all that religiously at that). Of course, I don't drive like my buddy.
A few small things have popped up here and there but after quick searches on the interweb it kept pointing me here to T.W.... no problem that I searched couldnt be found here so.... Figured id join with other fans of these tough little trucks and see what else could be learned.

    Lol thanks!

I figures it would've been tied to your buddy's truck. These trucks are pretty bulletproof!

He finally totaled his 01... and to my surprise, it wasnt his fault - some lady in a Buick POS T-boned him so he went out and bought a sweet 2014 Tacoma - he seems to be treating it with a bit more respect.... I still see him let out a *sigh* when he glances at mine which is same color and looks pretty much identical to his 01 (sans battle scars that is)

That's funny! Tell him to hang on to his 2014 as long as he can, because apparently Toyota's not makin' 'em like they used to, and that the 2nd Gen is one of the last solid ones they made (BTW, stay away from the 3rd Gen subforum ).

As I mentioned, upload some pictures of your rig when you get the chance!!! We'd love to see them!
