    Mostly stuff I built.
This pretty much sums up what I found as well. Been off the grid on the beach @PINS for the last 2 days and took some time to look this over and pretty much couldn't say it better my self.

    Totally forgot about this thread-

I never had the guts to start cutting into my harness. Its probably simpler for my tuck as it is a MT. Has anyone gotten this to work?

If you unplug the wheel sensor isn't it like a sensor for your lawn mower? You get off the seat and it shuts it down, I would think the wheel sensor would be similar, disconnect and possibly put a loop in it, this may make the ECU still think it is connected...thoughts?

Does the ecu monitor the wheel speed? So if u loop it won't it think u aren't moving?

It's a lot more complicated than previous gens.
Lot's of fail-safes/monitoring at the skid control ECU and 4wd ECU; as well as between the two ECUs via CAN.

See below thread where this was discussed.

This is the closest thing there is. To my knowledge, know one has bitten the bullet and tried.

Hmm... I wonder if they accept returns if it doesn’t work.

    Probably not; they're in Australia...

I've been trying to find wiring schematics for the vehicles it does work on.

There is indeed a lot going on as described by Splitbolt.

Here's a link to the service manual (thanks @over60 ). Start reading at the bookmark "VF2CM Transfer" (page 10,924) and you'll get the idea pretty quick WRT 4WD modes and how they're detected:

    https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!ApVq9MTr1-x4Xik&cid=E4201B2041C373EC&id=E4201B2041C373EC!473&parId=E4201B2041C373EC!152&action=locate

If you read the failsafe charts, one of the things that always seems to happen upon malfunction detection is rear axle unlock.

Not saying it can't be done or shitting on the idea, just saying that it's not gonna be shit simple or the same as other gens. I'd personally like a 2Lo work around for backing up with a trailer etc as well as the locker anytime mod.

Between locker failsafe chart, page 2,159 and transfer case failsafe chart, page 10,957...
You'd have to do a lot of bypass switching on both sides(switch position and position monitoring) of the skid control and 4wd ECUs; plus trick the CAN.
IMO, $525-AUS($415-US) for the Bud's Custom, would be a deal if it worked for the Tacoma.

Sometimes I loved the simplicity of my old 97 4runner and 4wd system with the 'grey wire' mod. Can only imagine how more complex things are with the 18's and the tss. (think it is called tss/radar etc.)

Just ordered some parts, I think I will make a similar box like the other company, but it will be simpler.

What would you guys pay for a product like this?
