I'm just conversing / stating my opinion. It's all good.

I will say that while I've long been aware of Tacomas (have owned other Toyotas, including a 4runner for twelve years) until I looked at them seriously I didn't really know the differences between the 2nd and 3rd gen. I still don't think most people would be able to point out one from another though they might notice the difference in the nose and tailgate once you told them to look for a difference.

is this maybe in reference to wind noise instead? "Aerodynamics" is obviously the wrong term used.

LOL! Oh course! Sales would be through the floor but for that innovation.

Perhaps once day if I ever own a gopro I might use it. So I don't much do anything stupid enough or thrilling enough to warrant one.

Oh really? I thought it was a pretty big leap in styling and thought it looked noticeably more aggressive compared to the later 2nd gens, which is what makes me think more people would want to buy them. It seems to me like a whole new crowd of people are starting to buy these trucks but I could be wrong and just thinking that because of the attention they are getting. In general though I think when new generations of cars come out a lot of people switch brands too

The OP's observation, and ensuing question could probably just be poorly articulated. Some of these responses are what is pathetic.

Thus my initial question to the OP... I suspect he may have meant something different that what he wrote.

Again, just my opinion. Doesn't mean it's universally true. I do know that familiarity seems to enhance awareness of the differences. Now I can spot 2nd vs 3rd gens at a distance. Just like I can spot different gen or submodel Jeeps, or the model/trim difference on BMW 3 or 4 series cars at a glance.

I think biggest noticeable exterior difference is the nose, and rims. Other than that I agree. Interior and engine performance are the biggest changes in my opinion. I used to have a 2nd Gen pre-runner.

Yea I see what you're saying, jeeps all look the same to me but tacos are easy to tell apart since I know the styles

My SO keeps pointing out 2nd gens on the road, and says ... "look, another new tacoma". We usually see them from the rear when this happens (and I agree they are very similar from this view), up front they are easier to tell apart for her. Now she knows the embossed tailgate is the dead giveaway from that angle.

I usually leave the section alone, by itself, so it can stew in it's own Insanity. There is no logic in the Turd gen Section
