Has anyone wired up their grill lights to activate with the DRL? I would like them to turn on from the first click on the light stalk.

I'd like to stay in the engine bay with the wiring, and I can't find any DRL wires running around in there. I've located one in the cab off the T20 connector (Turn Signal Flasher).

Hope someone has some better knowledge on doing this.

Unfortunately no wires to achieve what you want in the engine bay area.

Or because of the need to de-multiplex DRL and Turn for 2nd Gen and 3rd gen SR / SR5?

@Puppypunter and I are brainstorming a timer only option which wouldn’t need a relay, I think the timer output is sufficient for grille lights. But if DRL is on with ignition then it wouldn’t click off when stalk is off.

From what I’ve read, DCLB in 3rd gen isn’t available in Canada? Not sure if 2nd Gen was though? Or maybe it’s a DCLB OffRoad limitation? Not super sure.

OP, does your DRL come on with ignition or first click on the stalk?

If your DRLs come on with the first click of the headlight switch, just splice your grill lights into the wires coming out of the DRLs.

It’s more complicated than that due to mixed DRL and turn. If you do one side only then it flashes with that side turn. If you combine both sides it’ll flash with hazards or when DRL is off with any turn.

I have done a few P&P setups with my diode modules for people. Ideal would be the timer setup as used for the SR OEM LED conversion harness.

I think the other guy is doing two sets of grille lights for now, one left and one right. That’s likely the cheapest way to something reasonable.

Mini relay-fused hot-activated by tapping one wire to cab (DRL control at Turn Relay connector, 2 choices there) is cheapest.
OP also has Morimoto with DRL issues, so added relay can juice the Headlights & Grill lights.

That’s all I did on my headlights and it all comes on with one flick of the headlight switch. But then again my turn signals and DRLs are separate.

So grill lights flash when turns/hazards are selected or you've never checked?

I can do that for y’all tomorrow, currently out of town. But my headlights have an LED strip, projectors for the hi/low beam, turn signals, and a small amber halogen bulb in the upper corner of the headlights. I have the grill lights tapped into those small amber bulb wires. When I turn the headlight switch, the LED strip, grill lights, and small amber lights all come on. One more flick, and the projectors come on while everything else stays on. Turn signals flash just fine on their own.

So your using the Parking/Tail circuit, not the DRL.
