heh, i'm embarassed as hell i always put a finger in the grill to pop the hood, figured my finger was too fat to do it properly.
just ordered my grillcraft black mesh grill, best price i could find was $150 ($170 with shipping)
can't wait to pop it on and finally get rid of that stock grill.

why have i not seen ANY vertical billet grills, or vertical 'jeep cut' grills that could even match the cuts in a westin or aires bullbar?
toyota trucks have had vertical designs before, why are all the inserts horizontal designs now?

anyway, pics upon installation. don't know if i'll cut out the old plastics or not.

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!

Here is the 3 piece grill cover that fits over the existing grill. I do like the other one as well (grillcraft). But hate the fact you can see everything under the hood unless you start spray painting everything black. Still wish they had one where you can keep the emblem. You can always put the word Tacoma on the front grill like those on your doors.

I'm in the process of installing a replacement billet grille and I'm just finishing removing the original grille. It seems the plastic frame is pretty flimsy. The new grille weighs about 4 pounds. Is the plastic strong enough to hold up the new grille? Should i be worried about this?

5100's all around, OME 888 and Dakars. ProComp Series 05. Cooper SST Maxx 275s.

I have the grillcraft MX on mine. It wasnt hard to put on at all. You just take a sawzall and cut around the grill and do a little sanding, then 6 screws and its on.

I was a little iffy on cutting, but the finished product is well worth it, and I get compliments all the time.
