Don't have the issue as I am only at 300 miles but have been reading about this rather common issue. Has anyone concerned themselves enough with it to try and mitigate the situation before it happens? Perhaps sealing the harness connector at the actuator better? Been taking my Tacomas all to high pressure type car washes for years. Wondering if I am going to make matters worse with the new truck.

I think this issue has gone mute. I haven't heard and fresh grumblings.

I washed it twice so I guess I will see. So far so good all around. I really like the truck.

Washed mine a few times, and it rains every day here now. No issues

I sprayed my grill directly at the car was for 3 months and mine was alright. Until it wasn't. When the malfunction happened, my truck wasn't even wet, I simply started it to drive home from work one morning and my dash lit up like an Xmas tree.

I don't think its getting wet that's the issue its corrosion as a result of it being wet that causes it. Haven't seen it on mine yet and its been through the car was a couple times and driven in the rain. I only have about 1200 miles on it though.

I think it has to do with just batch of bad parts not the fact it’s getting wet

So far so good for me. I will consider it a non issue at this point.

I think it was the early models and Toyota might have already fixed it. Mine is a March build and I just bought it, so I don’t know where mine falls into the “early” builds

January build and mine has seen several hand washes with a pressure washer, and now since it's super dry a couple times through the touch less. No issues. Not to say the next time I drive it it won't happen.

Washed mine in the car wash and at home, and was a wintery, rainy mess all spring, good so far
