Howdy! I believe that I’m picking up a TRD Sport/OR grill to replace my SR/SR5 grill today. Both use the emblem as the cover for the TSS sensor.

Is there anything that I should know about removing the TSS sensor from my grill and putting it on the new one? I really want to avoid messing up the calibration of the TSS. All the threads I’ve found are about the Pro Grill, which I’m not getting.

Any advice or links to threads where this is discussed would be much appreciated.

(first pic is of my stock grill on my truck, second pic is of the grill that I’ll be swapping to)

I literally did not a thing when I swapped from my OR grille to the Trail Edition grille other than remove old, remove TSS, bolt TSS to new, slap on garnish and slap the whole thing back on the truck. Never got an error (knock on wood now that I've jinxed myself...) and never recalibrated anything. Also have used the radar cruise numerous times since then with no issue.

Not sure if that answers but I wasn't aware of any recalibration process, oops.

Great to hear! I’ve heard stories of people getting calibration errors from their TSS when they’ve changed grills, added lifts, etc so just wanted to make sure my bases are covered. When you say the garnish, do you mean the emblem, or is that another part that needs to be brought over from the old grill? Every Google search is about the pro grill garnish when I try to get information on that specific part. The grill that I’m buying comes with the emblem so hoping that it’s just a plug n’ play situation.

Oh crap that's right on that grille the emblem IS the garnish, so to speak. The sensor just sits behind the emblem which functions in the same manner as the garnish on the grille I have.

I can't speak for every single person's truck, but on mine I never did anything to recalibrate or battle errors with the garnish (which I got from the Taco Garage so it wasn't OEM). Enjoy the new grille

Plug in play. I’ve swapped my grilles out 10+ times with my Tacomas and never had a tss issue

Love to hear all of this. Hoping for an easy swap, and may wait to install until I can paint it black. I’ve got a knockoff TRD skid coming as well that I may paint too, but unsure yet. Thanks for the help!
